And I really don't care for the lying GOP. Yeah, nice to see he's publicly rejected one of the key tenants of Christ's teachings: Peace, Love and Tolerance.Gawd, the man's name just seems synonymous with sphincter.

Saying you are a party that embraces life because of abortion and embracing life for all the many other real elements are two differing concepts. The idea of prohibition of abortion meaning embrace of life is a completely political construct.

I get what Reince Priebus is trying to say, that tolerance is not a word he likes because it could lead down that dark road of accepting people for what they are, and not judging them.

A big tent is not a pup tent, a big tent implies acceptance of the greater parts of society. An anathema to the republican theological, political perspective.

What a coincidence I can't "tolerate" the sight of Reince Priebus. Thanks Carrie

No! Imagine the Regressives embracing anything else than nationalistic narrow minded prejudice! That would indeed be unthinkable!

If you watch the video prepare to get a headache., Priebus is excellent at gibberish. But he does give us a hint about Republican-speak/strategy.... "It's not what you say, but how you say it." Revealing.

My question is why would any sane and informed person tolerate a Republican. They've proven themselves unworthy for anything but a prison cell or the hangman's noose.

I think you have to look at where you are and where others are and determine how much you are willing to subject yourself to things you do not agree with. People claim to be tolerant - but really aren't. How many of the commenters here have hung out in the inner city? Why not?

The Republicans have been imploding into an increasingly reactionary party since Nixon. Just when people think they can't goo any lower they do. The lack of tolerance has been he defining factor of Republican rhetoric for many years, to such an extent that in some ways it has all the characteristics of a hate group. The statements show how hate is the only consistent policy they have now.

I must admit to an intolerance for Republican buttholes like this one ~ my intolerance is justified, his is not as he is supposedly a leader of the community, representing a lot of people. My intolerance has been learned and has accumulated as these GOP fanatics keep doing things that are hypocritical, obnoxious, and below what should be American standards.

Can't send stars again today to you Arielle and Robert...but love your comments...dead on.

Oh, and, Frank......ever heard of Fifth Ward in Houston, TX? Google it, I have IRL friends who either live there or have lived there and are now deceased. Know poverty and abject despair.....I do. The question is.....DO YOU? Do affluent Republicants? I seriously doubt it....only what they see on Fox.....maybe... but not IRL.

So ol Rince n Rack (Yes, pun intended off wash n wear) doesn't like tolerance......well, well, well.....then it shouldn't afront him when we have no tolerance for him or the rest of the GOP (Fascist Bast***s Party).

It should be no surprise that those who have already derided compromise...would now take the same stance on tolerance. Purity is the Trojan horse, or lipstick... put on high-kicking extremist Jackbooters who get off on and demand marching in lockstep, as a way of displaying fealty in their Reichwing cause.

And another politician opens mouth to insert very large and profoundly arrogant foot. All of the hallmarks of the National Socialists in Germany in the 1930's; they are so collectively crass they don't even bother to rephrase. But somewhere, one of these pontificating morons has read German
history.

This is no surprise. The GOP lost their heart and soul years ago. All that matters to them now is keeping their rich friends happy.

I think it is only a matter of time before the entire GOP party implodes.

I'm not that crazy about the word tolerance myself,: I prefer acceptance. Tolerance represents the bare minimum and we should be better than that. Another good word is inclusion. Yes, i realize RNC PR BS cannot even make it to tolerance. Gag me with a spoon.

Definition is a one-size-fits-all word, pick and choose as your beliefs dictate ...

TOLERATE ...

Capacity to endure continuous subjection to something OR ability/willingness to put up with something (in particular the existence of opinion or behavior one does not necessarily agree with.
vs.
Capacity for or practice of recognizing and respecting the practices and beliefs of others OR leeway for variation from the standard.

Looking at the total picture, can be "worked" with benefits for all. and easier to see why the U.S. (and the world actually) are so crapped up.

So, a Republican can't tolerate tolerance. What a surprise.

". . . what you will see is a party that embraces life"--unless someone with a gun wants to shoot you and/or a lot of your friends--"a party that embraces marriage"--but only by THEIR definition of marriage!--"and a chairman that understands that there’s only one sovereign God"--prove it--"and that we ultimately aren’t dependent on what happens in politics”--really! Then how come you spend so much MONEY on it? “What ultimately matters in our lives is that we’re salt and light in the world"--what the hell does that mean, anyway?--"and that we’re honoring God in the things that we do every day"--by allowing God's creatures to die in suffering and pain because we shot them/tortured them/took away their jobs, their homes, their healthcare/allowed our corporate Overlords to screw them into the ground/turned our collective back on them if they were women who wanted to be treated with something resembling respect, or anyone who didn't have skin the exact right hue that we require in order to fulfill our very narrow definition of humanity.

That's the only paragraph I read. My stomach is churning, and I think a blood vessel in my right eye just burst.

I have known, and respected, many people who vote Republican. However, for Republican politicians, well, they may know what it means, but I think it's too confusing a word for them to incorporate in their everyday values.

Be glad that they won't use the word "tolerance" in their rebranding of the GOP, some people might get fooled into thinking something had changed if they did use it.
