Never before has there been a recorded sighting of a Rufous-necked wood-rail in the United States, but for the last two weeks one of the birds has been right at home among the cattails at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge.

Read and noted and thank you. Having never had the birding bug bite me I really think these people are a bit(??) overly obsessed.

Noted - and yes, if we humans leave them alone and not interfere with the environment, hopefully there will be more of them.

I've been a birder since May, 1982, have seen some species where one would not expect to see them, but nothing like this.
Thank you Carrie, and thank you Anne, for the alert.
My spin on birds, is that they are like gems of nature.

I am thrilled. Yes, I do have the bird watchers bug. Actually it is a bird lovers bug. Thanks Carrie for this wonderful news.
