So much for being neighborly. A handicap ramp outside of a Fountain, Colorado home is stirring up tensions after neighbors began complaining the ramp could hurt their home value.

What nasty neighbors to pull that kind of crap. Hope the family can stop this - seems to me it's a form of harassment.

Well, I got two little ol words for those O So wonderful POS involves the word 'You'....I think you all can figure out the first one and it rhymes with yuck....just change out the 'y'.

We have a handicap ramp made of wood (because our front porch is wood). We are both unable to walk up or down stairs very well. Most of the time I am in a power chair and hubby uses a walker. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE in our neighborhood would dare say this kind of BS either to us (our faces) or behind our backs to other neighbors. No one in this neighborhood thinks it devalues their properties one iota. Our homes in this area, in our neighborhood, go for 75,000.00 to 120,000.00. No one is complaining. We are not the only ones with a ramp either. The neighbors 3 houses down have a ramp also for their quadriplegic one is or has ever complained about that one either...

Their neighbors need to just shut the **** up and worry about their own lives and properties and leave their disabled neighbors the hell alone. And be thankful they do not need a frikken ramp!!!!!

They would most certainly sing a different tune if they were faced with a handicapped family member.

How heartless and petty can they get? This is a necessity for their daughter's freedom, just because she is unable to move as other's can is no reason to be so ignorant. This makes me very frustrated as I have worked with handicap people and it is no joke. If these neighbor's don't like it tell them to move period. The ramp is tastefully pour and is not an eye sore and doesn't take from the house at all. Shame shame shame on these neighbors.

I think Rose nailed, in one word, "SCUM."
I'll bet these asses go to church on Sunday's, and think of themselves as good, morally upright souls!

Their "logic" makes no sense at all. Something tells me their issue isn't with the ramp.

There isn't anything to add to all the other comments, except that I agree & just can't believe neighbors would react & act this way.

I hope the law is on the side of the Giesegh family.

I saw this just after I read on Facebook of the neighbor who wanted a family to euthanize their teen autistic son. What IS the world coming to?

An attorney from the Civil Rights Education and Enforcement Center is now working with them and has sent a letter on their behalf to the neighbors - at this point it's "very explanatory. Just hoping that if they understand the law, that this problem will be resolved." They are inside the city limits of Fountain and have the city's approval for he ramp. I personally am NOT within the city limits of Fountain, but I am close enough that I have to look up their weather instead of where my address actually is to get weather forecasting that is reasonably accurate. I am appalled by this.
On some of the related sites the funniest comment was in reply to someone who expressed a hope the neighbors would break an ankle and have to crawl in and out of their own home. The response: "People like that don't crawl. They slither."
