Santa Fe County Ordered To Issue Marriage Licenses To Gay Couples

A New Mexico district judge has ordered Santa Fe County to issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. According to the AP, Judge Sarah Singleton ruled in a lawsuit filed by two Santa Fe men that they can legally marry in the state.

Interesting...good decision but it'll probably be appealed to a higher court by the bigots.

So far forty couples have been issued licenses and the courthouse is staying open past regular hours to perform marriages. Such wonderful news!

Thanks for posting this good news, Carrie. The Republicans can sue all they want....I have a strong feeling that it will only solidify into law the ability of ANYONE to marry in NM. My mind continues to have difficulty understanding those whose hate overtakes their brain & heart.
