And the vets always harp on the dangers of feeding raw. Get outta town! All I ever hear about is the commercial crap recalls. They've got some 'splainin' to do.

I make our dogs' food also, Ruth. The vet thinks it's wonderful and our dogs our both healthier. I started making it while our Ziggy was still alive and he had fewer breakthrough seizures once he was off the commercial stuff.

Yes organic food is often much safer, especially homemade when one knows what one is doing.

It seems that no matter what one buys these days, be it pet food, human food...even lettuce and spinach...there is a danger of spoilage and bacteria. Especially with the now popular packaged pre-cut lettuce/greens for making salads, which is gets recalled every now and then.

I guess it's best to grow your own salad greens these days... (yes, it can also get bacteria) or buy it without it being pre-cut. Perhaps one can start eating rock pate to be entirely safe, but I guess even that gets bacteria. The food industry for pets and humans needs watching.

seems everything is contaminated these days..thanks so much for bringing this out for people. dog foods and cat foods are having so many issues in the past months that we make our own and control things as best we are able.

There are excellent resources online for making pet food. Any doubts ~ ask your vet.
