Right-wing billionaires and special interest groups are doing everything they can to rig our election process. They want a campaign finance system with no limits, no regulations where they can essentially buy as much influence in any election they choose.

Thank you for the petition!!! That party started doing this kind of thing in the southern states. It broke my heart when they did it too Texas. I truly believe they want to create a one party nation which is not a democracy or a republic. They no longer serve the people; they serve corporations and the extremely wealthy. They must be stopped before it's too late because they will crush the people if we let them! (s, n, p, t)

As ex-President Carter said if he thought their was too much money involved in elections (not quite his actual quote, but very close) "Yes, there is no democracy". The President needs to make a law with a cap regarding the amount each politician running in elections can accept and it should have full transparency.

Citizens United need to be struck down now! It's abominable that anyone can buy an election in this country in this days and age! I am ashamed of all politicians! Dems and repubes! Anyone that takes money from PACs are crooked to begin with! There should be fair and equitable elections, ALWAYS!
If another country was doing this, in say the Middle East, we would have election supervision on them, in a New York second! We tell all these other countries how to run their elections and we have THIS going on in ours? What hypocrisy!!

Signed & noted. Thanks, Carrie. We need to have publicly financed-only campaigns. We need to remove those in charge of the debates, as well---so that we can have multiple parties engaged before the public. This two-party mess is for the birds! I understand SCOTUS will be hearing another case similar to Citizens United soon, and I hope they don't just make this all worse.

Obama raised $745 million in 2008 and a "mere" $71 million running against Romney who hit the ball out of the park. This article targets "right wing billionaires" which, in fact, there certainly appears to be quite a collection of "left wing billionaires" supporting their candidates such as Obama.

I am not opposed to leveling the playing field with candidates but we must always keep in mind that no matter what we sign or vote will never stop this process. Money talks. Money buys a candidate and that money spares no political party. Obama used "bundling" and perfected that process so that thousands of donors could be lumped into one source...$50 from here, $100 from there..... Political parties will simply build a better mouse trap and continue to be clever in naming it.

Ever notice how rightie only uses the word democracy when referring to bringing it to middle east people?

I ask them what they have against democracy and all they can do is change the subject and talk about how much less democrats raise compared to the billions spent on rightie...except they don't mention the inequity.

"I am not opposed to leveling the playing field with candidates but we must always keep in mind that no matter what we sign or vote will never stop this process. Money talks."

Nice cop out, Diane. If we made it illegal, shut down K street. only allow lobbying by the people, nothing would change? So just don't bother?

I donated through a lobby that represented the people. The idea is to go back to our constitution and make it so corporations can't be represented over the people. That was the result of the fascist take over in the scotus. The Constitution NEVER meant that corporations were people. Cheaters found a loophole and republicans let them. They wanted it. They need it. They don't represent the people anymore.
