Lots of people think John Boehner has lost control of the House Republican caucus. Apparently John Boehner does, too. On Wednesday, the speaker and his lieutenants had to stage yet another embarrassing retreat.

"I have two great enemies, the Southern Army in front of me and the bankers in the rear. Of the two, the one at my rear is my greatest foe. [As a further undesirable consequence of the war...] Corporations have been enthroned, and an era of corruption in high places will follow. The money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in the hands of a few, and the Republic is destroyed." —Pres. Abraham Lincoln

Getting so sick and tired of the GOPTP playing their games while the poor struggle on, barely.

I think most know the the real dangers and harm to this country by raising the Debt Ceiling. The republicans, bless their pointed little heads, are battling with a group of extremes within their own. There just does not seem to be a way to talk the TP off the ledge. I don't blame Boehner for these intractable ideas, these folks are fed this from sources more influential than the Congress. Harm to the government or to this country is far less important than winning their objective.

If this nonsense about de -funding Obama-care continues, we may see a shut down on October 1. For those who have absolutely no connection to the government, this is an ideal situation. For all those who get paid directly or indirectly through or from the government, this spells disaster. That's about 80% of the country.

If the TeaBullies are cut loose from the GOP then the Democrats and Republicans can join together and choose a conservative Democrat (a House version of Joe Manchin) to take the Speakership from John of Orange as a compromise anti-TeaBully unity candidate.

Thank You Carrie. I really feel looking from the outside, and without a complete knowledge of Us politics. that there is a big cloud overhead that is going to burst into fury.

William and Katri - well, everyone really - the majority that wins is only the majority of those who VOTE. And Democrats and other Liberals are notoriously, historically bad about voting in years when there is not a Presidential election. Yet every state will hold an election for the House of Representatives in 2014. About 2/3 of the states will also have an election in that year for one of their two Senators. Then there are governors. Do you know what states are holding their gubernatorial election THIS YEAR? Do you know what kinds of candidates are running? Do you know you don't even have to live in the state to volunteer to help get out the vote? Phone calls can be made from anywhere.

Here is my take for Right Now. Do anything you can to prevent Ken Cuccinelli from being elected THIS YEAR. OK, McAuliffe is not perfect, but Cuccinelli - OMG! Then with anything else you can spare help Barbara Buono to oust Chris Christie. Also THIS YEAR.

We've always understood that if we don't vote we can't complain. But I feel it is now to the point where if you don't get educated and do whatever you can to help, you can't complain either. Yes, I realize a lot of people can't do much - I am one of them - elderly, only income Social Security, disabled. But what little I can do, I do do.

OK, end of soapbox (at least for today).
