Potter's granddaughter, 35-year-old Jaclyn Fraley, helped him set up a fundraiser on the website, GoFundMe.com, but his daughter rejected multiple offers to buy back the home where he'd lived for 56 years.

Nasty. A real betrayal, and dishonourable.
I don't know the whole story, just fro what I read, it's despicable abuse, and disregard and disrespect for the needs and rights of Mr. Potter.
What an ignoble way to treat elders, especially family.

WOW. To do this to your father, as a daughter, in this case, this is downright cruel. She should go to jail for taking the house, by fraudulent means, and ordering his eviction. His grand-daughter is a Gem of a lady, glad she helped her grandfather. What a story.!! Thank you, Carrie for this.

I'm almost hoping this was some sort of money-making scam, as horrible as that would be, because it would be even more horrible for this poor man to have fathered and raised a daughter who turned her back on her own flesh and blood as easily as the cruel and heartless people who abandon their pets.

Candy, if your mother leaves things to others in a will your brother has no claim to them.

It is very sad how some children try to take advantage of their parents. They should be ashamed.

Midpoint age between grandfather and granddaughter is 63.5 Of course we don't know how old the daugter actually is, but is early Alzheimer's a possibility? Also the daughter is married. Where is her husband in all of this? I know that children do abuse their parents, but it's very hard for me to believe that those who do are normal human beings. For instance in Kiing Lear the evil daughters have married evil men; not that the daughters aren't evil, but there certainly is no restraining influence from their husbands. Of course she could just be a Republican.

Isn't it a comfort to have children in your old age?

You can pick your friends but you can't pick your family unfortunately. Very sad.

A friend of mine is going through a similiar story. Her brother and sister have taken over her mother's house and money. It's hard to believe family members can do this to each other. Very sad.

Congratulations to Mr. Potter. He is a wonderful and fortunate man. God Bless him and give him a good life until he goes to meet his wife.

What a witch the daughter4 is. She is greedy and self serving, smug and egotistical. I hope she learns a lesson about being a human real soon, because she ain't one now. Did she forget all the gold things her parents did for her. She obviously doesn't care and just want's more! more! more!

Candy L, you need to talk to a lawyer. Just because your brother is Executor of your mother's will doesn't mean he can just take things bequeathed to others - the will determines what share each beneficiary gets.

Horrible thing happening to this poor old man. Powers of attorney can sometimes be really dangerous.
