If you live in NYC, this link will ruin your day. If you don't live in NYC, you will think all the people who live in NYC are slightly crazy.

- can you get any more idiotic ?
Castles are REALLY cheap, especially to (renovate and) maintain -- if (and only if) the smirfs take care of that

Everything is relative. Don't forget how expensive it would be to take care of a castle, and how much physical work would be involved.

Anyone considering castlemates for the 45 BR/Bathrm will be paying $112,583.33 per bedrom and bath. I could chip in about $25.00 if they'll take mastercard...Really liked the 12 BR castle - it has all those acres, but the per BR cost is about $385,000. Would never consider moving to those NY Cracker Jack boxes...too little room for waaaaay too much money. Thanks, always love looking at castles.

Lovely historic homes and really, if you have that much money to spend who would not prefer the castle to the tiny NYC apartment? Of course, these are homes for those who live in a very different world than we little people. It's fun to see these palaces, and they are often on the tour of homes on travel TV.

Holy crap! I could maybe afford to buy one of the bushes on the property of any of the castles and just live under that. As for NYC, oh I think not. The castle are lovely to look at though. Thanks Carrie.

No castles in Germany? Spain? England? Only the French want to dump their pads? Got to be some reason for that!

Don't you just love the fix me up apartment in NYC for over $2 million that has a "potential" of a backyard. Holy crap, a cement pad with junk in it.

You couldn't pay me to live in NYC. If that is what one gets for $2 million I hate to see what the other people are living in. How do these people live there and work in places like low level positions in banks, teach in the schools, drive the subway cars, are the tour guides, so on and so forth?

As for the Castles, I never would care to live in one of those either, too big, too cold and damp for my liking, but if I had to choose one over the other I it's a no brainer. To have land and space outside around me and I could take a few rooms to fix up nicely to live out the other rooms for tours or bed and breakfast.

Oh wow, my partner and myself visit castles every week for medieval banquets, dressed up in the full atire and my partner in armour and sword! Our dream is to buy an English or Welsh Castle, but at the moment we are having so much fun Enacting! One day, one day.......

Thanks sweetie.
