During Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)'s epic "faux-libuster" Tuesday night, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) managed to briefly flummox the junior Senator from Texas by asking him about some of the real world consequences faced by people who are denied health care coverage

Sen. Cruz (Princeton class ring and all) is what my late father used to call an "educated idiot"

Yep, there is a real disconnect for these folks that have high level white collar jobs that usually come with family health insurance and the real world of the many people that would never have the opportunity to buy insurance with out the exchanges. There are more people that do not have have insurance than those who do have insurance. Ted Cruz is spouting an ideal of an ideology and not the real life situations for real people. People need a opportunity to access health care, why that should be a major battle is more than curious. It should be a direct insult to those who know they will never walk in the privileged shoes of Ted Cruz. A man who has never been without and really has no real life understanding of any way of life beyond his own.

Cruz showed once again there's no substance there, no humanity either.

Ted Cruz certainly didn't surprise anyone with his lack of knowledge about the "human condition" in this country.

This "man", and many like him are a very large part of what is wrong with America. They have absolutely no conception of the "real world of real people". How do we get a "better job" when those jobs are very few and far, far between? If I'm not mistaken, Cruz is also one who believes that the "private sector" should be the job creator, not the government. This type of thinking leaves little for the common person to hope for.
Cruz has a wondrously high intellect, an excellent education--but he's still just an empty suit--and probably well-funded by the Kochs.
Thank you, Carrie, for the post.

The reality is that families will still be without health care and penalized for this through extra taxation/penalty. If you are one of those families, I don't think you would be singing praises of this at all. NJ's exchange is a joke. At least what was revealed in the news yesterday. What the hell did the feds do in trying to get more competition here? Whatever it was, was not effective at all. Live in NJ and you will know the reality of coming up with a few hundred extra per month.

I'll wait until October 1st to see what the end deal is. I am not holding my breath that it will be better then what was revealed yesterday.

So no, I don't agree with the over the top ideas of some hard right people, but in this case, maybe they are looking out for my family.

Carrie, why is this a "Faux"? The Congressional Record shows that it is the fourth longest time on the Senate floor in history (following three Democrats) and all are termed filibuster speeches.

As to health care, the info coming out on rates makes it more expensive for those living in the country than those in cities -at least in NY which I read. From personal experience I know that my costs have already risen and soon what little I have in the way of pharmacy benefits will cost me a mint. I don't see any benefits to Obamacare and, given that the poorest country fol won't be able to afford it, think it missed its goal big time.MAde by city people for city people and problems?

Hey John. When are you going to tell us how your insurance is going up? You said it had a really bad effect. Let's hear it.

Liar.
