Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on Friday tore into what he called "extreme right-wing Republicans" for threatening to shut down the government and default on the nation's debts if President Barack Obama's health care reform law was not defunded.

Sanders pointed out that the current debate in Congress was “making us look like fools throughout the entire world because a handful of right wing extremists are so determined to try to destroy this president.”
- this is how I summed up the article!
Thank You Carrie.

"“But one thing is certain, you do not hold the American people hostage by threatening to shut down the government or for the first time in the history of our country not paying our bills and bringing this country and perhaps the entire world into a major financial crisis,” he explained. “There was an election a year ago on this very issue — one of the major issues in the campaign — and the Republican candidate said, ‘Let’s defund Obamacare.’ He lost the election! Republicans lost seats in the Senate, they lost seats in the House! And that’s what democracy is about.”

"“What democracy is not about is a handful of members of the House of Representatives, extreme right-wing Republicans, saying, ‘If we do not get our way, we are prepared to punish tens of millions of Americans. Yeah, we lost the election. Yeah, we lost seats in the House and Senate. But we are prepared to bring this government down. We are prepared to cause, perhaps, a major global financial crisis unless we get our way!’”

"He continued: “Let us not tell men and women in the United States armed forces, who today are putting their lives on the line to defend us, that they’re not going to get paid. Let us not tell police officers here in Washington and elsewhere, they may not get paid. Let’s not tell working families, who take take their little kids into Head Start so they can then go out to work, that that program may be killed. Let’s not tell senior citizens, who are on the Meals on Wheels program who can’t leave their homes who depend upon a meal, let’s not punish them because you’ve got small number of extreme right wingers who want to get their way at the expense of millions and millions of people.” "

Oh how I love Bernie Sanders! May God bless him for ever! We need every country in the world to have most of their people represented by people like Bernie! (Sadly it hasn't happened yet - but it could!).

This is why I think the nation should in the next election vote for the independents who are trying to deal with the issues maturely; rather than acting like a bunch of rich, preppy sophomores in their puerile sandbox pissing contest. Even if you have to run the government through a quorum; it just might be more productive than this sham and utter embarrassment in the eyes of the world.

In my opinion, Bernie Sanders is the heart and conscience of the nation. I wish he would be President. He's a true leader!

Bless Bernie Sanders for all he does for the Average working Americans.
It would seem to me that the reason the Repugs are threatening to destroy the USA is simple. They are, No.1 a bunch of racists. (that is obvious!) but they want to destroy the ,Obama Care initiative to ensure that health care for all will be part of his legacy. and they cannot stand that thought. Dammit,he is a black man. he does not deserve a positive legacy ,it will be noted in history,(along with Dubya,s ,which was hardly a triumph of truth and honesty) MYadvice to OUR President would be in the words of Churchill. "When you are going through hell. KEEP GOING" Great Job Mr president!

Bernie is pretty cool, he stays rational, but when he does lose his temper he is a sight for sore eyes. What he says should have been said long ago, louder, by everyone with a brain.

Yes, he is an independent, but I am very opposed to voting for independents who cannot win and thereby causing party-affiliated madmen (and a few women) to get into office. Reality is reality.

Dear Ted Cruz: You're no Wendy Davis.

Dear Mr. Sanders: You're no Ted Cruz. (Thank God, eh?)

It's misleading to say that Mr. Sanders 'shamed' the right-wing extremists, because, as we well know, these people have no shame. But bless his heart for trying.

The GOPs new name should be the Deadbeat Party since they don't want to pay their bills. Payment is due for the Iraq War you guys wanted, Aholes! The majority of the deficit is YOURS.

Government Shutdown Threat?
On September 9th a man wrote a letter to our news paper wanting to impeach President Obama. President Obama has NOT broken any laws, which would be the only reason our president could be impeached. The write claimed a lot of people want President Obama impeached, but I have only heard a few republicans talking impeachment. The latest poll showed only 19% of Americans say they are Republicans now. Why didn't the Republicans want to impeach Reagan when he broke the law? It was called the Iran-Contra-when Reagan sold arms to Iran. Reagan admitted doing it once he was out of office and the papers he and G.H.W Bush had signed were found. When Reagan dropped bombs on Granada without a vote from Congress, when Reagan sent our Marines into a civil war in Lebanon and 200 were killed, when Reagan discovered Iraq had used chemical weapons on it's people, but decided not to doing anything about it. Where was all the Republican outrage? And I don't remember anyone shouting impeachment while Bush was destroying our economy a few years ago. It was under Reagan when our country was divided and has been since. Call your Congressional representatives and tell them to stop the political games and keep our government running.

Hey, whoever's running the universe, will you please bless Bernie Sandes big time? That man points out clearly and succinctly what we ought to know--that the GOP is pure poison to this country.

This shut down threat isn't really about the Affordable Care Act (That was a Rethuglican idea years ago) It is about the Koch brother power over our government. I am so glad the Feds are checking them out. ;)
