Wonder why the government is still shuttered? You may have missed this interview, in which the speaker issued talking points from another dimension. Jamelle Bouie has the blow-by-blow.

Thanks Carrie. Good information, I had actually believed one of things false statements. Now I know better.

No wonder Americans are so disenchanted with politics. Within the course of an hour or so, the speaker of the house tells 5 mayor lies and undoubtedly a number of fibs without blinking an eye. I just can't get used to it that this has become acceptable behaviour to Americans and the man is still in office.

Not worthy of quoting but more than worthy of hanging.

Let Boehner dig his own political grave. If he's so sure he doesn't have the votes for a clean C.R., then why isn't he calling for a vote? I don't know what or who he's so afraid of, but a real patriot would do what's best for his country --not himself and his benefactors.

Noted This was the most important part of the article to me -.Not only is this not true—as we discussed earlier—but it’s a terrifying promise of future dysfunction, which explains President Obama’s decision to hold firm. If he bends to Republican demands, he guarantees a future where legislative minorities are free to threaten the economy and demand concessions from the majority. It’s a full assault on our Constitutional norms, and Obama is right to challenge it.
Thanks Carrielll.

Stars where I could send them - but some like Lona have just made so many good comments that I have come across today and have already had a star so I can't send another - sorry!

Excellent comments, and utterly excellent article - many thanks Carrie and (of course) a green star for showing us this piece which I would otherwise have missed - and I am VERY glad that I didn't!
