On Tuesday, voters in Washington state defeated a measure that would have required labels on food containing genetically engineered ingredients. A similar effort failed in California last year, so now attention turns to roughly two dozen other states.

NO, OPPONENTS of the GMO labeling called it last Tues- - -The actuality is that WA (where I live) is a mail-vote state, and, as of this AM (Tues the 12), the votes were not fully counted, and it was still close.. BY tonight, I haven't seen the actual count, but it MAY be in - - -

The best of luck to them. Big money from corporations who have so many politicians in their pockets, like Monsanto, is apparently hard to beat. People are letting themselves be brainwashed and start to believe their lies after so much overexposure. I hope the circle can be broken.

I live in WA State and voted for it. Best of luck to the other states in their fight to get correct and informative labeling on food.

We have the right to know, are they not breaking the human rights act???
No wonder the anti-labeling group were able to raise over $24 Million, as look who was supporting them -
Top contributors were the Grocery Manufacturer's Association and major biotech firms - Monsanto, DuPont Pioneer, Dow AgroSciences, and Bayer CropScience. Good Luck to the other states!!
Thanks Carrie.

It is bad that we cannot trust anymore what we are eating. Thanks.

Please do not give up! Let your representatives know how you feel about this. Call and write supermarkets, food manufacturers, etc. Use your buying power to demand organic foods. The fight isn't over!

Is there any place where it has passed?

I'm in N.J., and have real humans for representatives on the state, (and federal level), and will be watching the fight. The lying beast who just won re-election as Gov. here, did not effect a change in the legislative balance, and it is in favor of the Dems.
Still, F***ing big money could push a vote against labeling, although this is The Garden State!

The corporations aren't the actual government yet but they're pretty close to it.

Thanks Carrie, wish somebody would realize it's not asking too much for us to know what is in our food.
