Let me begin with a warning. If you read this any further, it may be a 4/20 buzzkiller for you. This is not my intention, but it may be the result if facts sometimes get in the way of a comfy view of the universe.

Expected, I always said the devil is in the detail, this proves it. The problem is, it's like given pain killers to people who abuse them. And this is given to people who think that's it's safe anyway. It's still a drug.

The problem with weed legalization without guidelines about potency issues is a big one. I hope that other states will take heed of this before passing legislation to also make it legal. The last line of the article says it all. The weed many smoked or put into brownies in the 60s and 70s is nothing like what is out there today. What people are selling now is not a "natural" plant that came from the Earth all on its' own. Much of it has been tampered with by people who want to get blasted out of their minds, not just get a little high.

Marij. is a natural organic Earth plant that grows abundantly.
True to form, it consists of medicinal properties.
It's intent is not to be abused or over used.
In experienced caring hands it is beneficial.

Ok, as one from the end of the hippy era, college in the early 70's, there is something basically wrong with the premise of the article and the nightly news reports here in Washington. Alcohol Poisoning is ALCOHOL OVERDOSING. Every year there are 50,000+ medically reported cases of AOD(Alcohol overdoses). There are 22,000+ AOD Deaths every year in the USA, out of the 80,000+ deaths in the USA directly caused by Alcohol via AOD, DUI accidents, suicide, spouse abuse et alia. 51% of those aged 18-20 year olds in the USA admit to Binge Drinking another 1.5 Billion Americans age 21-26 admit to Binge Drinking of all of those nearly 1/3 result in AOD ranging in severity from mild to fatal, the fatalities are 22,000 of those AOD are fatal. Now, not, aside from the fact that Alcohol is the socially acceptable drug of choice for law makers, law enforcement, judges, news editors, and news reporters just where does the concept of POD(Pot Overdose) even get into the conversation. It takes 40,000 times the amount of THC that gets you high to poison you, if three tokes, of 35 mg THC/g pot gets you high it takes 120,000 to kill you. The average adult human breaths 18-22 times per minuet so if you toke every breath it will take you between 90 and 111 hours, not going to happen even with concentrates. Alcohol is very different, 80 mg/dl is the legal limit, do not get confused BAC limit is .08 g/dl multiply by 1000 to get mg/dl, makes you to drunk to drive but it only takes 400 mg/dl can kill you that is a factor of 5 and the less tolerant and the less body mass you have the easier it is to OD on Alcohol. And binge drinkers consume large amounts in a short time. Binge Drinkers consume 10/8(male/female) drinks beers or cocktails in 2 to 3 hours which results in 200mg/dl half the fatal dose one shot per beer puts you at 400 in 2-3 hours. I do not know about you but I have worked in the bar/restaurant business in a ski resort area with pub crawls doing the alcohol OD will be reached before the half way point. Ad the same is true with 18 or younger who are going to chug beer and pass around bottles of the hard stuff. And there have been absolutely no medically reported Pot OD fatalities ever in the world but there are at least 22,000 Alcohol OD Fatalities medically reported each year in just the USA.
