Rent will be charged starting Thursday to more than 1,300 families displaced from their East Coast homes by Superstorm Sandy in October 2012 and sheltered since then in apartments and bungalows largely paid for by the federal government.

Noted with disgust that some people are stuck with a mortgage for a home they can't even live in and now have to pay rent too, which is just not affordable. FEMA is wrong in stopping the help so desperately needed.
Thank You Carrie.

Absolutely disgraceful, and it looks as though we're heading the same way in Australia.

I wonder how many of those families has at least one member who also lost unemployment benefits in December. Well, the jobs aren't there. Of course the way the law is written on this, Congress would probably have to act to extend the benefit just as they would have to act to extend unemployment (and didn't). I wish I had some good advice for these families. Even "Get rid of Christie" isn't that helpful for all of them as many are not from New Jersey.
