The 2014 Texas Republican Convention takes place this weekend and things were off to an interesting start with this speaker, a Davy Crockett impersonator who called for the violent overthrow of President Barack Obama and his administration.

I wonder if he paid Disney royalties for playing that "Ballad of Davy Crockett" belongs to Disney. The original Davy Crockett was a pretty cool dude.....sorry to see him remember so poorly.

I think he's actually from Disney's ' LOONEY TUNES, 2014'. Thankyou, Carrie.

The Republicans think they can get away with it if they put a 'comic' on stage and let him tell their message to the public. They've taken their clues from the popularity of Stewart, Colbert and Maher and think if you put a rabble‐rouser in a Davy Crockett costume, you're in the clear. What they do not see that Stewart et al. expose the truth, while this is just demagogy with a silly suit on. But I'm sure the audience in Texas loved it and agreed with him, and that is all the more worrying.

There must be a lot of oil in the water in Texas - could we please just give Texas back to Mexico? Along with Ted Cruz, this bunch and all the other crazies who for some reason unknown to me think they have a right to complain?

There is a pun I could make off the name Crockett, but I don't think Care2 would let me.

Okay, Republicans you can not have it both ways.

Either Obama is the most incompetent man in the history of the planet or he is an evil dictator that wants to take away your free-DUMB. Which is it?

In any case, Obama can't run for a third time. If he somehow does, then maybe your dictator charge would have merits. As it stands, the ACA covers mental health. You should seek the services of mental health professionals for your Obama Derangement Syndrome.

The Chicken hawks are full of squawks, deep in the heart of Texas, this is a rather sad way to treat a hero by using an actor to basically talk about treason. In a week that showed the hypocrisy of the Republican party from praying for the release of the only American Pow in Afghanistan they are now calling him a deserter and calling for the impeachment of the President, which is particularly galling given that Oliver North betrayed his nation, his service, and his President in the 1987 Iran-Contra scandal by selling weapons to Iran. All this shows is how little they understand history, still it should be interesting to see if they will put their money where their mouths are, I understand that treason does hold the death penalty.

Even in just, advocating for violent overthrow of a fairly elected President is bordering on sedition. Texas, leave the union. We will gladly let you. But first all the liberals that do the vast majority of the high skilled jobs in the State get a chance to leave and retain their US citizenship.

Hmm, wasn't Davy Crockett & his friends killed at the Alamo? I'd pay to see that...and I think RepubliCONs have way too short of memories..from The Battle of the Alamo: Most eyewitness accounts reported between 182 and 257 Texians dead, while most historians of the Alamo agree that around 600 Mexicans were killed or wounded. Several noncombatants were sent to Gonzales to spread word of the Texian defeat. The news sparked both a strong rush to join the Texian army and a panic, known as "The Runaway Scrape", in which the Texian army, most settlers, and the new Republic of Texas government fled from the advancing Mexican Army.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I live in Texas (moving as soon as health & finances allow) but Ted Cruz & Rick Perry & their Tea Party Cronies are jokes who be arrested for treason and shot. Especially Ted Cruz who is scary crazy.

Noted. But I was looking for an empty chair and noted that the actor can't pronounce 'narcissistic'. We have to protect the Constitution. Davy, dear, you need to teach your party what that includes!

Davy Crocket and Jim Butcher and several other heroes were killed at the Alamo in Texas. These lunatics have been trying to change history so much that they don't even know the real history.

Oops, that is Jim Bridger, Jim Bowie too, etc. All died at the Alamo at the hands of the Mexican Army. For this bunch of crazies to use those heroes for props for their hate rants is disgusting beyond comprehension. If they were alive today, they would have nothing to do with these crazies who are so full of bigotry and hate it is damaging their brains.

That is sedition, is it not?

ScoTT S (31)

How nice that Republicans support and applaud this man who suggests killing the President. Even the founding fathers, who had serious issues with the then King of England, George III, did not even suggest killing him as a solution in the Declaration of Independence. Wayne, sedition be what the colonists did to King George. This is not only sedition, but also a class D felony according to USC title 18 section 871. A class D felony means a maximum prison term of 10 years and a maximum fine of $250,000.

According to political theorist Judith N. Shklar, "the phrase 'the Rule of Law' has become meaningless thanks to ideological abuse and general over-use" - How nice that Davy Crockett gets applause for saying nothing of substance!

Three asian characters, always the same three - this in itself is not suspicious, but an account created on June 6 with almost 1000 green stars and almost 50,000 green stars, and almost 500,000 acres of protected land is. Multiple EMPTY profiles created that same day that match those criteria are. Always the same three asian characters, but the profile says USA. - Some new form of spamming?

Now watch the entire Republican slate get elected. The electorate in Texas will be so won over by the state convention antics and lunatics they'll show up a week early to vote. What would Davy Crockett do if he lived today? He would probably be disgusted with the gutless party of red who used his name in vain. He would laugh at the macho idiots with weapons in stores. He probably would regurgitate several times that he wasted his life at the Alamo for a bunch of real bigots who couldn't tear their way out of a wet paper bag in a downpour.

Interesting, a fake of a man from TN, a state in the USA at the time, talking to a group in TX, which had to beg to get into the USA because even then they could not stay out of bankruptcy without help from the Federal government of the USA. Wow, deja vu, sounds like Rick Perry using Billions and Billions of Federal Tax dollars to prop up the TX government not once but twice or was it three times with the Help of Obama programs. Yup things are bigger in TX particularly STUPID.

Sorry peeps, I have the misfortune of existing in this armpit of USA and I am surrounded by these dipsh*ts daily. Crazy is an understatement...Seditious...absolutely. Treasonous....just about there. One could fix all these things but we cannot fix STUPID. And there is a LOT of that down here. I am really beginning to believe it's in the water.

i can't help wondering if most Texans realize how they are perceived, not just around our nation, but around the world.
How do you sensible ones, deal with those deeply troubled, unintelligent, uninformed people around you? They are becoming a laughing stock.
To use a biblical term, 'You must have the patience of Job'.

I spent about a month in Dallas, Texas, with a friend on business. We visited San Antonio for a week-end and enjoyed it immensely.
