The most important political lesson of the Salaita case is this: criticizing the crimes of the Israeli state is the new McCarthyism. Steven Salaita is being fired because, much like suspected Communist sympathy during the Cold War, support for Palestine..

Dare i say yes...it sure appears to be the only issue that gets one fired without hesitation---even pedophiles-rapists+other repulsive sacks of manure gets 2nd+3rd chances....pretty frightening world we live in. Thx Carrie

Not only is the firing of Dr. Steven Salaita a violation of his civil rights, it is extremely hypocritical and an affront to academic freedom which empowers true knowledge.

Noted. Thanks, Carrie. So, a man who sides against the bullies then gets "bullied." Oh, the tragedy of this! At least it's reported via this article. I hope other incidents like this gain wide reporting as well.

The only problem with labeling it "McCarthyism" is that there is no actual McCarthy to challenge. I think I'd rather be fighting an individual than a miasma.
