Hamas has signed a pledge to back any Palestinian bid to join the international criminal court, a move which could expose both the Islamist group and Israel to war crimes investigations.

There is a lot of posturing in this, and because this is only a bid for the ICC, I think Hamas has joined with Abbas and the PLO because of the signals it sends. I think they are counting on the bid not to be accepted nor the war crimes of either Hamas or Israel to be investigated. But by supporting the bid, Hamas is showing the unity of the Palestinian government to the world, and it undoubtedly will enrage Israel and make them expose more of their true intent where Gaza and Palestinians are concerned.

Certain amount of truth in that assessment Lona. Political posturing is the name of the game ~ and Hamas is learning. If the ICC does accept their bid they will still be better off than Israel, so it's a win win situation.

Whatever the outcome it's a smart move for the Palestinians.
