What do George Bernard Shaw, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Leo Tolstoy, Leonardo Da Vinci, Paul McCartney, and Pythagoras have in common? The answer is: they've all been passionate promoters of vegetarianism.

Awesome news. It is always great to read a story that reflects my views regarding animal consumption. The effect it has on world hunger and global warming should be enough for people to stop and listen instead of turning a deaf ear. That's not even mentioning the horrors of factory farming and all other killing. Thanks for the great reading!

I am actually surprised that so much meat is consumed in India, the land of the sacred cow and Gandhi. The scientist who thought up (or helped think up) the idea of Meat-Free Monday is Indian, and I think India is a good place to have Meat-Free Mondays as there are lots of vege options in Indian cuisine.

This from the Meat-Free Monday website: "According to the Worldwatch Institute, globally some 56 billion animals are raised and slaughtered for food every year." -- 67% on factory farms where there is a lot of waste, too.

ty for the article.

Good news. All countries should go meat free on Mondays and then we can start adding more days. Just think how wonderful the animals would feel if they could reason!.
