It's high time for a change. For rape survivors, a modern definition of rape at the federal level would acknowledge, once and for all, that rape is rape--and that the stories and experiences of all rape survivors count.

This cynical attempt to re-define rape is yet another crude attemtp by the far right to marginalize the entire gender, with the added result of making abortion more difficult than it already is for a rape victim. Rape does not require redefinition-ask any victim. It is utterly irelevant to the IRS, theorized to become the rape police. And no woman should EVER be placed in the position of meeting any standard of proof than that required for criminal prosecution. The country is being held hostage to a shrill, self-righteous minority, governed by extortion.

It's sad we even have to do this petition and make people understand rape is a violent crime. Defining it any other way would be a farce and insult to all rape victims!

It is absolutely ridiculous that a basic human right: not to be violated needs to be brought to the attention of our government before it will be properly validated.

And we have the unmitigated audacity to lecture other countries about how they treat their women. Someday soon, maybe, we will progress to the 21st century, instead of the 1600's in this matter.

with a new, larger definition statistics will take an instant rise, maybe the FBI doesn't want to change the definition to keep figures low.

One can only imagine, how this attitude of RAPE would change, if _males_, were the ones being raped.
Perhaps, a year in prison, would revise their attitude.

Just wished that women who actually have not been raped did not use this as a way of getting attention or money. In that way it would have a chance to be taken seriously. It is devistating for those women and children who actually have been raped. They need some severe help, which they do not get at present.
