Ruby Ridge Continues Their Lawless Ways, Darigold Remains Silent ACTION

Business  (tags: United Farm Workers, business, ethics, farming )

- 2435 days ago -
In an initial victory on June 14, a court ordered the Ruby Ridge Dairy to pay five former Ruby Ridge workers $50,000. To date, the dairy hasn't paid a single dime. Nor have they made good on any of the other back wages that workers say they are owed.

"If one of these workers were caught joyriding in your car, you'd be screaming for the law to be enforced. So, remind me: Why is it different now?"

While I despise crooked unions, the UFW at Ruby Ridge is not in that category. I hope these people get properly paid with interest and get the chance to evict the Ruby Ridge Dairy management and get better jobs.

Sent an email to Darigold.

A good example of why people need to stop union-bashing, and stand up for worker's rights.

Signed Nancy.I agree with James E..This is a classic example of why workers need to belong to and to support the trade union movement.Without unions workers would be forced to work under the slave like conditions they had in the 19th.and early 20th. centuries.

Bovine dairy milk isn't even really all that healthy for humans. We all really ought to try switching to alternatives including goat milk and plant-based milks. If we are to consume standard bovine dairy, then we need to reject products produced in industrial dairy operations. Switch to dairy that has been produced under sustainable conditions at smaller, local dairies. Finally, as to the oppressive conditions that workers face at Ruby Ridge, not only should the workers protest, they should also report every health and safety violation at this location. If it's like most dairies in this nation, it is in violation of any number of regulations regarding the hygienic standards for safe milk processing and production.

Thanks to the UFW these workers will eventually get what is theirs. Let's hope that they will get other jobs in the meantime as Ruby Ridge is obviously a scofflaw and will try to wear the workers and the UFW down until they run out of money. That is why I have been supporting them monetarily for over 25 years. Actions speak louder than words.Support unions, they are what keep us working 40 hrs/wk instead of 50 without overtime and keep us safe in the work place. Once everybody had pensions, now only union jobs provise pensions, so stop bashing the unions. The farm workers provide us with the food we buy. Unfortunately not everybody can buy food locally, but those who can please do so, and don't forget to support your local farmers' markets, their food doesn't travel as far and thus is much fresher. Also due to the shorter travel time less gasoline is consumed and the air stays a little cleaner.
