Reject, Don't Just Reroute Keystone XL Pipeline ACTION

While the Obama administration's decision will delay the Keystone XL pipeline, there is still a very real threat that the pipeline could be approved in the future, with reroute plans as one alternative the corporation is considering. There are still oth

Bang on. This pipeline is bad news no matter where it goes. Also, take a look at the source and see what they have done to the land there. The Alberta tar sands - total devastation of the land.
Thanks for the story Nancy.

Signed. It does not matter where they move this project, environmental issues will still arise. Also, looking back on pipeline history, once build, the government does not maintain these lines, as they should.

This delaying tactic is just that. If you pacify the public long enough, people will think Obama really cares. This administration has committed itself to this pipeline. Where it ends does not matter. I don't think this thing is going to go away.

Signed! Thanks Nancy - we need more advocates like you - not only are these pipe lines an issue, but fracking must be banned! When is corporate America going to wake up and find out they're commiting not only genocide, but suicide - I guess only when their children are coming up with unexplained cancers and disfigured babies, and earthquakes occur and whole populations are wiped out, then again maybe that's their plan!

Who appointed and bestowed upon the planet plundering, air and water poisoning Oil Corporations the authority of Gods? Most assuredly it could not possible be my government of the people, for the people, by the people. Persistence on this plan will come back to eat your shorts, trust me on this Iím your plundering Bankster. Let me tell you we don't want this pipeline rerouted through BC's most dangerous and wildlife including the Spirit Bear. Well I can tell you that one thing that has the people of the Great State of Montana mad as hell is that they are being told that the Canadian Company is/has been given the right of eminent domain to force the sale/lease of their land whether or not they like it. I was born and raised in Montana, my family still lives there and I can tell you that they will need the National Guard and the Army to build the pipeline if they try eminent domain to grab the land.

I do hope that President Obama was waiting so long to speak on this issue to see what the will of his people was, and also (hopefully) so that the groundswell of indignation would reach such a pitch that people would NOT forget about how vile this project is if it resurfaces in another guise. While for rejecting this new pipeline, I wonder how many realize that a future for N. America with even less access to cheap petrol energy will mean a dramatic decrease in energy consumption for all N Americans?

The notion that we can continue to surf the internet from our computer, in our heated home, next to the television, dishwasher, etc with 'green energy' is absolute, utter bunk. There is no way to make our current rate of consumption sustainable. We all have to learn to consume FAR less if we want to get off oil.

Adrian Z. (0)
Saturday November 26, 2011, 10:24 am
Yes, we should consume less. Our eco footprints are insane. But there has not been any serious help from the public or private sectors towards alt energy because of the oil industry. That doesn't mean it isn't viable. Not at all. There is more sunshine and wind than oil and gas.

Adrian Z. (0)
Saturday November 26, 2011, 10:27 am had a great panel discussion on Occupy Everywhere and Naomi Klein talked about the progress in alt energy.

No pipelines anywhere! They are sure to cause environmental damage, disregardful of their route. The tyranny of oil must end! All of this, however, sounds like wishful thinking at the moment. But, because the future will only reflect present decisions, unless we do something about it now, they are no good prospects.
