still not letting me note stories, but I tried....signed and sent......just one more reason to re-elect Mr. Obama as Mr. Romney isn't clear where he stands and I am not confident he would attend......

Considering how much the corporate lobby has affected most of UN discussion and decision-making when it comes to enviromental issues, Rio+20 doesn't seem very promising.

What an embarrassment it would be for President Obama to commit our country to leading the world towards a low-carbon green sustainable economy when a large number of American-owned corporations refuse to reduce carbon emissions or to even admit that global warming exists!

I hope he'll attend and that our country is represented, but without the cooperation of the biggest offenders, he can't make such a commitment on behalf of our country because he won't be able to meet that commitment. I hope the Rio+20 Earth Summit puts tremendous pressure on America's non-compliant polluters to put need before greed.

Signed and noted. Thanks, Nancy!

First, Obama has to make a stand on what direction he sees this country going in terms of energy. Between his back peddling on the Keystone pipe line, and letting Shell drill for oil, its safe to assume he favors oil production.
He originally was in favor of nuclear energy - then the disaster in Japan happened, so he backed off. Solar energy, and wind power were too expensive.
It looks like this administration is in favor of oil drilling in the Arctic, and off the Gulf of Mexico.
