Ol' JR and his companies in Idaho sell you potatoes, elect his rightwing puppets who have successfully allowed the endangered Gray Wolf (who by the way helps re-enrich and diversify ecosystems depleted by humans) to be shot by governments and private citizens just for existing, and has been a force in stripping away environmental laws of all kinds.

Simplot is quite simply the single most powerful corporate entity in Idaho. Given the number of state leaders that dip in Simplot's pockets, it is highly unlikely that anything will be done to clean up the Smoky Canyon mine. Meanwhile, we can expect phosphate levels of the Portneuf River to continue to rise.

Why is our federal government allowing this to happen? And when will the mining companies involved be forced to clean up their mess? Are they waiting to see whether or not humans start conceiving children with similar deformities? Another thing to consider: if humans DID start to conceive children with such deformities due to exposure to toxic chemicals, will our conservative politicians make it impossible for the victimized mother to terminate such a pregnancy? And if they do, will they fund programs that would provide support to the child and its family? It appears that the conservative Republicans have some serious issues to consider: do they continue to contaminate our water systems for the sake of making a buck --even if that contamination is responsible for deformities in unborn children -- or do they back down on making abortions difficult for women to receive and approve programs that will assist these deformed children and their families? The greedy are very good at creating victims. They're even better at denying responsibility and turning their backs on them.

Gladly signed and noted! Thanks, Nancy!

Oops! I need to clarify: I meant to write "and if they DON'T (make it possible for the victimized mother to terminate such a pregnancy...). Sorry for the confusion my angry, trembling fingers caused.

They made the mess, they should clean it up. You came, you took, you put it back the way you found it!
