Small producers and democratic cooperatives are core to the founding principles of the fair trade movement and market. By definition, small producers are vulnerable, excluded and under-resourced in the global market.

Corporate greed will always get in the way of fair trade! The only way I can see to get round it is for everyone to boycott these types of establishment. Personally I wouldn't dream of entering them!

Signed. I hate the way small farms have been sucked up for urban sprawl here. I can only imagine how the poor people in other countries feel.

Starbucks does not even RECYCLE. I live in CT and they throw away gallon and gallon after gallon of plastic milk jugs instead of using dairy bar types of milk containers. Fifty (50) or so gallons of milk in ONE (1) thin plastic bag that clearly produces less waste than thousands upon thousands upon thousands of empty gallon milk containers daily or perhaps HOURLY. The do NOT even provide a recylable bin for their sold plastic products! Green? Who are you kidding?

This is exactly why I only buy La Familia Guzman coffee from Dillanos. The coffee is grown organically, sustainably, by a single family. They get a very good price for their coffee, and the money they make goes directly to improving their lives.

Noted, tweeted, signed, tweeted, shared, commented. In the long run, this would help all companies because it would help our economy, but large corporations generally don't look past the bottom line.
