Is the Second Amendment the * only * provision of the US Constitution we are going to keep intact; are we only keeping the second-half of the Second Amendment alive, but having a perpetual shooting orgy with modern guns? It seems that the only part of...

Is this part of the population explosion control?

Birth control not wildly exalting death!

I did appreciate that on the news report I saw they were giving the attention to the victims not the notoriety
to the killer.

Guns don't kill people...people kill people! This man didn't act alone in this....it was a set up to make it look like guns are the evil in this country! What better way to make a point of an agenda that some want to be passed than making a perfect example of it!?!? The ones who are truly guilty are the ones who put this guy up to this!! All it takes is a little common sense and a process of elimination to see it's impossible that this man did all of this on his own!

Now had there been someone carrying in that theater...there would be a LOT of lives saved and maybe no injuries...but you see the result of what happened!

Everyone would be better off without guns - except those hunting for food. Stricter controls needed. The amount of amunition and explosives this guy had is beyond the pale.

The gun lobby is rich and powerful; they run the country.

The day the Colorado shooting happened a republican gave an interview in which he said something like 'if someone in the theater had a gun he/she could have stopped this guy'. That is ALWAYS the answer from the gun nuts! How ASININE!! Can you IMAGINE...a darkened movie theater...the air thick with tear gas, people screaming and running all around...what the hell are the odds of the gunman being hit and not someone else?!
I hate guns; they are designed for one thing. The world would be a much better place if the damn things had never been invented.

The lack of sensitivity by the gun lobby is consistent with the fact that there are more than enough bought politicians to block any gun control legislation. The way gun lobby glorifies guns shows little has changed since the wild west with stand your ground laws and the right to carry concealed weapons shows they are more interested in profit than human life.

the gun lobby likes to claim that such massive killings would happen even if the perpetrators didn't have guns...no way there'd be such success without that kind of weapon

F**K the NRA & the horse they rode in on. If every family member in
this Redneck organization were to have all their family members
murdered by firearms they'd still be screaming about their First
Amendment Rights to own & use their full-auto assault rifles, RPG's
which are yes, legal in several states, flame-throwers, tannerite &
other explosive compounds. No where else in the world does this
shit happen legally & most of the weapons obtained illegally in other
countries are provided by the U.S. government. You can take your
weapons of choice legally into bars, universities, restaurants & even
into your place of Worship. Wonder what Jesus would have thought
about!

Thanks Nancy for posting this, How many firearms does any one person need, The NRA and the gun toting idiots crying about their Second Amendment is the reason that we can't get any stronger firearms control, Who needs a assault weapon, there is only one reason for owning one of these to kill people.

The NRA is probably one of the most insane, oppressive organizations on earth. Only a maniac would justify a civilian being able to buy and own an assault rifle. Why doesn't the NRA advocate everyone own a tank? Maximum protection from you fellow human beings and maximum firepower. Except of course when everyone else has one---which is the whole problem with guns isn't it.

As much as is possible settle all things peacefully. Speak things out one with another again and again and again -- as much as it takes.

Since this dreadful event I've been thinking on why would anyone do such a horrible act to innocent people out to enjoy a movie? Since we don't know this madman's motives, I've been left to speculate; some may call me paranoid, however, could this young man be a pawn of larger forces? In recent months I've been reading articles across the net about the TSA/Homeland Security & how we can expect them to intrude upon our lives even more on a daily basis. From shopping malls to sporting events their presence will be seen & felt. Situations such as this shooting can lead not to tighter gun laws, but to our lives being subject to checks in the name of security.
I realise this sounds awfully 1984-ish, but who would have believed 15 years ago we'd be subjected to the screenings currently done by the TSA in our airports?
