"Because of the [girls' soccer] matches we play, I have met many new friends from areas outside my village. I say to my family that I am the example of gender equality because I go to play matches all over Bunyakiri."

It's wonderful that these young people can compete on the world arena and broaden their horizons, meet many new friends, and learn about things like "life-choices" and "gender-equality"--all while having a (perhaps) once-in-a-lifetime awesome experience!

This little inspirational note cannot cover the inferno that is the DRC. At this time, there arre some activists walking through Europe to the Euroean parliament to ask for the EU (& the USA and rest of the world) to give a proper mandate to the biggest UN PEACEKEEPING FORCE anywhere. Despite all this money spent keeping them there they are absolutely helpless (read hopeless) and women and children, the elderly and the very young are regularly butchered, raped and displaced right under their noses.
