A foreign-owned mining corporation that wants to build the Rosemont Copper mine in the Santa Rita Mountains, southeast of Tucson, Ariz., is lobbying hard to block protections there.

got his via email form Big Cat Rescue - thanks for posting it! whatever area can be made secure for big cats - and all other at-risk species - in the wild must be locked in immediately...before it's too late.

and that wretched time is upon the rate things are going, soon there will BE no jaguars...or tigers, or lions, or leopards, or any other big cats in the wild. USA Today, on an unheard-of front page story, gave them 20 years.

Twenty years. When today's children have children, they will be history. When THEIR children have children, big cats will be as distant as dinosaurs, and as unreal as unicorns. How could we let this happen? How COULD we?

Signed, shared & noted. Very grateful for this posting, Nancy...and the forward to Kevin. Commented that the Rosemont Mine they want to excavate in the Santa Rita Mtns. would be an ecological disaster for humans, animals and vegetation. We in Pima County have a dedicated group working hard to fight Rosemont, but need the help of as many as possible. Please share this far and wide!

Petition signed.

There are not many Jaguars left in the Southwest.

Are they on the ESA list...? If not, they should be.

Ty, Nancy.
