Ben & Jerry's Is Switching to Non-GMO Ingredients

Several factors spurred Ben & Jerry's to go non-GMO, says Rob Michalak, the company's global director of social mission. First is a commitment to transparency and consumers' right to know.

That is good news but I'm not a fan of them. The firm that produces the milk and yogurt I purchase is called Organic Meadow[100% organic from grass fed, free range cows] here in Ontario. I haven't seen any ice cream from them yet but I will be on the look out.

I don't do ice cream or dairy , the hormones have proven to cause acne and cancer.
I'm sure the pledge to boycott didn't harm their motives to label .
I wonder how many of us signed it?
ty Nancy

To me the surprise is that they weren't already. They have a history of progressivism from way back. But I'm glad they are doing it now.

Ben & Jerry's still have to work with suppliers and go back through the supply chain to ensure that there are no GMO's.
Thanks for posting Nancy.

Because B&J has such a great reputation and is so well-know, this news will hopefully cause other dairy companies to take note. I don't eat their products though, because they are very expensive and high in fat.

Seems like so many companies are suddenly on the GMO bandwagon. How much of what they claim is real?

Kathryn Niell (112)
Sunday March 17, 2013, 11:04 am
I have no doubt that public outcry helped B&J's to make their decision, but that's okay. Whatever works to keep the food supply "clean" and healthy! Kudos to B&J's!

So this "all natural" Ben and Jerry's has been feeding us GMOs.

And we're supposed to say "thank you for saying you will stop poisoning us. When? Why haven't you already stopped? If I fed my grandmother poison is it ok as long as I promise to stop?"

However, I have found that Ben and Jerry's is not the only supposed "natural" company that has been
giving us an unhealthy doses of GMOs.

Don't give them any kudos just yet!

"Ben & Jerry’s parent company, Unilever, spent $467,100 to defeat Proposition 37, the California Right to Know GMO labeling campaign. Now the ice cream company, known for its quirky, hippy founders and its social activism, is hiding behind its “Get the Dough Out” of politics campaign as an excuse to not contribute money to the Washington State I-522 Ballot Initiative and the Vermont Right to Know GMO labeling campaign"

Good news! Thanks Ben and Jerry's! I hope that the transition goes super truthful and easier than you think !
