Compromising with CRAZY just for the sake of compromise isn't good for the country. We need a fighter, not a compromiser.

The American middle class and poor have sacrificed enough already. Bailing out big banks and Wall Street...and every time Bain Capital and the like bankrupts or "harvests" a company on purpose, the American taxpayers getsto pick up the tab. Make the rich pay for their irresponsible ways, not the people who have already been screwed ENOUGH! Tell the rich Deadbeats, it's time to pay up for their wars and irresponsible ways. So don't let the GOP tell you they hate the nanny state...they LOVE corporate welfare: Privatizing Profits, Socializing Debt.

There is one positive about this action if it suffices without further cuts. I did sign and put on face book.

It could be changed in future legislation.

On second thought, there aren't any realistic positives.

It's a step toward doing away with Social Security and Medicare all together.

It's forcing the old and the poor to pay for the debt the rich forced America to accumulate.

Thank you! I volunteered for the President's campaigns, and I will volunteer for this effort as well. While he is not perfect, he is and was better than the alternative. Furthermore, I am driven to speak out for what I believe in and work for what I believe in. (P, T)

Most people on ssa are seniors, and a majority of seniors are republican. how can the repubs let this happen? are they that greedy? are they that stupid? or both!!!!!!

Richelle, the GOP plan is to blame Obama even though they've been the ones pounding the drums to dismantle SS since FDR created it. But if a Dem undoes it and betrays the people, it's still a betrayal. Not that the GOP would do us any favors. Their privatization scheme is a Ponzi scheme in itself. First of all it would cost MILLIONS to set up a new privatized system, and there will be all kinds of new fees that we never had before....Plus, you know how your 401K is no longer safe, any pittance that trickles down from what we WOULD HAVE received would most...would be continued to be pillaged by Wall Street.

Really, trusting Wall Streeters with our money who despise us? and who try to screw us at every turn??? Plus, I don't want my SS invested in the likes of Monsanto, Exxon Mobile, Big Pharma, and all the rest of the crap destroying our planet. Investing in that crap is investing in our own demise, any way you look at it.

Oh, I meant to add...who do you think would be paying for the privatization setup costs and those extra fees...that we never had to pay before....That would be You and Me!

Maybe now people will stop supporting the 2 major lying ass parties.. THEY DONT CARE about ANYTHING BUT THEMSELVES. (With a RARE few exceptions). If THEY had to rely on SS/Medicare like most, they would only strengthen in. THEY receive more entitlements than the rest of us combined. These were NOT EARNED like SS was paid INTO and EARNED. (SS is NOT an entitlement, and the name makes my blood boil.)

THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.. no more damn perks, superior ANYTHING like health care, insurance, pensions, etc, paid time off, pay raises (which they JUST voted in AGAIN I believe), THEY ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOBS..THEY SHOULD BE FIRED FOR NONPERFORMANCE like everyone else would be. R THEY SUPERIOR TO US? WHY do they act like it. Perhaps they forgot about the 28th amendment?? WHY IS THIS BEING ALLOWED??

The sad thing is we are 313 MILLION strong and they are a handful and THEY are screwing us on a daily basis.
Ok, sorry..S&N
