"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion. " -- Tenzin Gyatso (*1935), H.H., XIV. Dalai Lama

" This is my simple religion: There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness. "
-- Tenzin Gyatso (*1935), H.H., XIV. Dalai Lama

Two Tibetan monks were shot in the head and several others injured when Chinese police opened fire at a crowd gathered to peacefully celebrate the 78th birthday of the Dalai Lama in Nyitso

Thank you for this.

This is an example for all leaders. If only their hearts could be turned to their people and their people's hearts be turned toward others!

We are one. Our technology has brought this spiritual truth into physical expression on planet Earth. We are no longer separated. What happens in Israel affects those in Sweden and what happens in Sweden affects those in Japan and what happened yesterday in England affects the whole world. LOL

That baby was late in days and slow in hours. Maybe the soul didn't want to come!

If I were to be incarnated again, I pray not, I sure wouldn't want to be the "royal baby". Not in this world!

Aho! Compassion is most certainly needed around the world. Seems like those who shot the Monks didn't have any that Candy mentions about earlier in the thread.

Many more winters Dalai Lama. Maybe one day Humanity will reach a higher level.

Our leaders exist only for self-aggrandizement and are fooled by materialism; illusion.

Read the books "conversations with God"..what Dalai Lama speaks of is in book 2 especially. Love, compassion, sharing, and basic human rights would get this world on a whole new level of awareness and conscienceness..(sp)
Happy Birthday!

This is what Jewish Kabbalah speaks of.

Thanks Nancy for this. The Dalai Lama is just the most precious and wonderful man, isn't he? So full of love and compassion and with the most delightful sense of humour! I love the way that he asks us to share our compassion with OTHER ANIMALS too!! Most religions don't seem to attach much importance to loving animals. It would be wonderul if everyone on Care 2 could give this gift to the Dalia Lama. That would be nearly 23 million people all spreading love and compassion without counting all the other people in the world trying to do the same!! What a change in society there would be!

Nicky, you are so right, and I would point out, when the Dalai Lama refers to "other animals," he is saying something other religions avoid: that we,TOO, are animals, are not exceptional in that respect.
Zee, with, or without technology, we are all one. I am glad to hear that Kabbalah speaks of compassion.
May all sentient beings be free of suffering.
