Home Depot, Lowe's and Others: Stop Selling Bee-Poisoning Neonicotinoids | SumOfUs

Lowe's & Home Depot still stock their shelves with neonicotinoid pesticides, spreading the ecosystem-destroying toxin to homes & gardens across the United States. As consumers, we need to demand that these retailers pull the devastating pesticides

Thanks, Candy! I am all for the bees and the bumble bees, they pollinate my berry bushes and perennials. I catch wasps to a self-made trap using wine and pesticide, but I have noticed, that bees and bumble bees do not go near the trap, so I have found a good and bee.friendly way to get rid of wasps (my daughter is allergic to wasps) and I also try to think the children next door, they may have wasp allergies, too. But no bee or a bumble bee gets killed in my garden.

Home Depot is very community minded.........Lowe's just a little........But, both stores should know what they are selling is detrimental not only to the bee population..but it stays in the air and eventually harms us all.

Candy I had no idea until I read your news alert, which I signed & posted to Twitter.
The ban in place should prevent Home Depot and Lowe's from being allowed to sell it so I'm wondering where the break is in 'communication'.

" The European Food Safety Authority just imposed a two-year ban on neonicotinoids. It's a bold step taken to avert a new Silent Spring. With up to a third of all honeybees vanishing each winter, beekeepers are saying that we are "on the brink" of not being able to pollinate all our crops."

Rosemary, the ban is European, but the US still fully supports Bayer Crop Sciences' (yes, German company related to aspirin and also Zyklon-B used to gas people in Nazi concentration camps) neo-nicotinoid pesticides which are so intrusive on seeds they become a part of the plant, and therefore what we too ingest. So, it's not just bees, but us, and pets, birds, etc., too for that matter.

As long as the EPA, FDA, and USDA support these products and companies, we have to find other ways to put the pressure on to protect us and our world from these huge corporations with big lawyers and lobbyists.
