Despite the Pakistani government recognizing the ridiculousness of someone being sentenced to death for drinking water while being the wrong religion, Bibi still lingers in jail. Sadly, this is because of pressure from extremists

This is ridiculous, atrocious and absurd! She should not be persecuted just because she is of the "wrong" religion. Sentencing her to die just because she is a Christian is no different from sentencing someone to die just because he or she is Jewish - or Muslim, or atheist, or Buddhist, etc.

Gov't's like this are just a bunch on nonhuman animals, dirtbags they will never change. This is so ridiculous to forbid someone for taking a drink of water because of her religion. I don't understand why this should be such a big issue. If someone is thirsty, let them drink.

Unbelieveable the minds of these people. They need to be shot, not the woman. I also don't understand why the women are so expendable in these Countries. We are just as important as men.

How can Pakistan or any other country with such absurd laws, ever be taken seriously?
Using religion to control its people, especially females, has been a characteristic of conservative groups for many, many years. This is nothing new.
What's amazing is, that they are still getting away with it. If and until, the people in these regions insist on change, I'm not certain that we have the right to interfere, although, personally, I wish I could go there a smack more than a few heads together.

To Audrey B.: Please, remember one thing. You are only important if you think you are important. Unfortunately, these women have been told since birth, that they are lesser human beings and are easily replaced. It takes many years and generations, plus, add international influence and the internet, before women under these regimes, start to understand that they are not being treated as women in many other countries.
Don't think for one minute that these conservative males aren't petrified that 'their' females might rebel. That translates into stricter regulations, in order to keep control.

We are seeing it in the U.S.A.
That is the reason for the abortion issue to resurface again. Keeping women from making their own decisions about their bodies, is a symptom of the nervousness of our own male persons.
Isn't it amazing, they try to use religion to make their point. Doesn't it sound familiar?

Just happened upon this this evening, Candy, signed with a comment.
I read her book last month, I think, and mentioned it on the group "A Place For Bookworms."
Humans may have created religion, ages ago, in their search for the causes of danger (Jared Diamond), but it quickly became a source for manipulating others, a tool for those seeking power over others.
