Ethically live export needs to end. But while it continues, there can be no justification for completely abandoning certain animals to the risk of abject cruelty on the arbitrary basis that they will give birth in their destination.

all praise for spotlighting animals that most people don't think of as being exported as they are not exotic pet species. tha fact that they are domestic stock does not exempt them from at least as much consideration as those intended for live sale at their destination. Austrailia historically has a ban on export of its native birds - that same concern must be extended to their livestock.
