Thanks everyone and thank you Annelies and Lydia. I read a year or more back about another dog and that one I think was a Shepherd and it was being taken care of by a woman in the US Military too. This dog did some heroic things and his/her life was on the line too for being euthenased like Ratchet's. If all US Military when they end their duty get pensioned off or leave or move on or are too old or whatever you would like to call it and there are dogs who are trained by the US Military and as in Rachets the Dogs case it too 'saved; life after SHE saved Ratchets. She wasnt happy being where she was but tuffed it out as they said and then they found Rarchet so you would think that after all t hese months and all , you would think that they would be rather humane aobut creatures too and to think they have decided that animals have no right to be on earth is appalling. Sure there is health issues and all that but golly I am sure there are more serious Health issues to deal with in the Military than Ratchets

A great outcome and we must say bless us all for pressing and signing the petition. Some in excess of 65,0000 siggies.

Thanks also for noting this story b/c I believed it should be noted to let all know that this dog was saved by world wide acclaim.

May Ratchet be one hellava happy dog along with Stg Gwen

To say that I am thrilled to bits for both Ratchet and for Gwen would be the understatement of the century!! Thanks to the SPCA and other involved bodies, and everyone across the globe whose compassion and humanity got them to sign this most worthwhile petition and save this precious life.

Let's hope that the success of this mission will have set a precedent for the future, and that the US 'Military Might' will now give serious consideration to rescinding this ridiculous, cruel and petty command. We will not, I am sure, fail to be vigilant in our global efforts to stamp out cruelty in all its forms!!!

Good luck Gwen and family - may you and Ratchet share a long, happy and fulfilling life.
