How many people, if they were taken on a tour of the Middle East, through Gaza and the wreckage of Iraq and the slums of Cairo, would say: "I know what this place needs above all else - $60bn-worth of deadly weapons"?

The only way to bribe the Gulf countries and Middle East by giving them the weapon and I think US can justify their the arm package to Israel too..so no one can question...US is fair to all! It is just to fool others! Time now has come for Iran and Syria..Lebanon is safe at the moment for another 10 yrs.

Well hell yeah, let's just pour some more money into the middle east. We have people in this country who have been left homeless by natural disasters, whose homes, jobs and their very existance before the storms has been wiped out and yet we can pour more and more money into the WAR MACHINE. I am sitting here baffled at the sheer stupidity of the leaders (who much to our shame) we have elected to run this country. There are people in Fla. who still have tarps on their houses from hurricanes two years ago. It causes me to wonder if there really are honest people that can be elected to office who can make rational decisions, that are not based on BIG OIL or the ability of lobbyists to pay for their loyalty. THE WORLD NEEDS HELP TO ESTABLISH PEACE NOT MORE WEAPONS PLACED ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. GOD HELP US ALL!

Just one reason: $$$$moeny$$oil$$money$$oil$$money$$oil$$money$$$$money --- that's it. The government doesn't CARE about the people - and the sooner people stop talking about it and DO something about it, the better.

If you're sick and tired of the way things are, VOTE RON PAUL, OR KUCINICH, OR GRAVEL FOR PRESIDENT IN '08!!!

US foreign policy in the Middle East is in the hand of the Israelis, they've made the US attack one of the biggest threats (despite the fact that the invasion was no good for America) in the middle east -Iraq, and coming (I hope not) Iran and Syria.

Both US and Israel are week (for a war with Iran and Syria), they are hoping that Saudi Arabia will help more effectively (not like the two Gulf wars and the last war) in the coming invasion, but I don't think that they will make a Saudi soldier fight an Iranian or a Syrian...

How about using this money to help these people survive the day with food, water, utilities, infrastructure. No wait, that makes too much sense. More weapons = more death and destruction.

Sounds like hush up money to me. That way the US and its buddies can keep on doing what they are doing. They just bribe everybody. There are so many people in America that can benefit from these funds, hmm let me see they might need , A JOB, A HOME, DECENT HEALTH CARE, EDUCATION, and the list goes on. And it sounds like they are going for it, beleive me this is a huge cover up for what really is the true agenda. Unfortunately we have to wait and see for the next bombshell.

Linda B. but they had that...in Iraq, and the Bushj administration took it away, just look at the biography of Saddam Hussein in wikipedia, of course he had to be stopped he was doing a Good job of moving the middle east into a western nation
here is just part of his accomplishment, and you can see why he had to be stopped
Within just a few years, Iraq was providing social services that were unprecedented among Middle Eastern countries. Saddam established and controlled the "National Campaign for the Eradication of Illiteracy" and the campaign for "Compulsory Free Education in Iraq," and largely under his auspices, the government established universal free schooling up to the highest education levels; hundreds of thousands learned to read in the years following the initiation of the program. The government also supported families of soldiers, granted free hospitalization to everyone, and gave subsidies to farmers. Iraq created one of the most modernized public-health systems in the Middle East, earning Saddam an award from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

To diversify the largely oil-based Iraqi economy, Saddam implemented a national infrastructure campaign that made great progress in building roads, promoting mining, and developing other industries. The campaign revolutionized Iraq's energy industries. Electricity was brought to nearly every city in Iraq, and many outlying areas.

yes he was brytal..but was he any more brutal than Canada and the Unted States were to the North American Indian (we used small pox, instead of germ warfare ...oh wait..thats the same thing)

do I condone Saddam's methods?...no, I do not..but I don't condone how North America was ...civilized ..either

This is a BAU situation (Business As Usual) the arms flow like a gushing river, the puppets are mollified, the people remain oppressed, the gangsters (Israel) continue robbing rapining and pillaging and the craven main media contines propaganizing for the BushJunta Bolsheviks.

I agree with you Linda, but I don't think they will succeed in making a Saudi soldier fighting a Syrian or Iranian soldier...

The question should be why do we give millions to Saudi Arabia and Israel when they are the ones who are our real enemy, not Iran, Iraq, etc. 9/11 wasn't that long ago people. The hijackers were Saudi and Israeli spies danced on the Lincoln Bridge as the planes hit WTC 1 and 2 (By the way, how did WTC 7 fall when no plane or good sized debree hit it?) Also don't forget the massive Israeli spy ring not too long ago that got busted.

The US policy was never for the US it was for Israel. What does Iran or Syria have threat for the US?

Ah, my friends, I think that the U.S. does have selfish reasons for its support of the current regimes in Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, Afghanistan, etc., and its scapegoating of the people of Iraq, Palestine, Iran, Syria, as well as Hizbollah and the Taliban.

I say that the selfish reasons are economic and strategic - mainly about control of the world's vital resources of oil and gas.

And similar to what happened in the Vietnam War, if the U.S. cannot control who gets the resources, then at least they want to devastate the area and prevent any other people from controlling the resources.

I will show you many articles with evidence in support of what I claim if you ask me. :)

'Divide and Rule' is the policy. When everyone is exhausted by the fighting, then the Bushco thugs will step in to control the whole of the Middle East, using their Israeli surrogates to do their dirty work for them. The Israeli fascists will, of course, be handsomely paid for their efforts, while the ethnic cleansing of the whole of Palestine will be complete - or am I just having nightmares?
