We still need to continue getting signatures on our petition as we fight this in the courts.
Please sign and tell everyone you know to sign. This is a crime against the environment and we must not allow them to get away with it!

The LOVE of money is the root of all evil according to the Bible, and it seems that a lot of people in this country (and this world) truly LOVE money. At the expense of nature they make big profits and call it progress.
It's enough to make you sick.

I had to read the story because it's sooo close to home even though this story is USA and I'm in New Zealand. The greed for money is killing off many parts of this country, it's just sad so I know the feelings involved and know you have many supporters to cheer you on!

There have already been too many disasters allowed to happen because of faulty decisions by developers and the Army Corp of Engineers. Judy E has been valiantly trying to save these wetlands and Bald Eagle nesting grounds for months. On September 22nd, due to a decision by the Army Corp of Engineers, it appeared her group was losing their battle. I urge all of you to please read her profile page, note this article and sign the petition, http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/925517279.

At what point do developers see the destruction that their greed has caused? Do they sleep at night knowing their grandchildren's lives are lessened by their need for money? It is just so frustrating to see those in power with such little ethics.

I signed the petition and noted the story. I thought wetlands were protected by the DNR. But big money seems to take whatever it wants regardless of the natural habitats it destroys.

Keep putting the pressure on them. I had previously signed the petition. If you stop fighting now they will think they can always stop you no matter what you do. We must stand up for what we believe. We are the advocates of the helpless the guardians of the planet.

Thanks so much to all of you for your comments and signatures and for forwarding the petition to others. We are continuing our fight and will be seeking a legal injunction to stop the construction at this site. This would be an environmental crime and it's sad to say that those with deep pockets can push through whatever they want at our expense.

We had a special organizational meeting of FOM last Monday evening, and our monthly public meeting will be held tonight. I will keep you posted. In the meantime, all your comments count and will be preserved/presented on behalf of "we the people" who seem to be forgotten in this mess along with the obligation to protect the environment.
This is truly shameful on the part of all involved, but I am especially upset with the USACE Civil Works whose JOB it is to protect our waterways and wetlands.
It’s an uphill battle but we are standing our ground. This is, after all, supposed to be a democracy.

Judy

I signed the petition and forwarded to several different people. Having worked with Injured Birds of Prey in Alaska I feel a very special connection towards them and I believe we have to do eveything in our power to protect their habitats. We need to keep the ecosystems healthy and any type of disruption can be detrimental to all the wildlife within it. Bald Eagles have gone through enough in the ddt days and their come back is a remarkable feat and we need to continue to do things on their behalf and other animals who inhabit these areas.

You should get these wetlands listed by NRDC "Biogems!" They will organize a campaign to save them.
Find out what they do at http://www.savebiogems.org/about/biogems.asp
Their site is really impressive and when you belong you get "action alerts" by Robert Redford and sometimes, Leonardo di Caprio. Who could resist? LOL But, seriously, it is certainly worth a try.

All of the money going to kill others. Trillions and Trillions of dollars. Our soldiers need to say NO everywhere. If they all did it then reprocussions would be only to the Booooosh boyz. We need this money for gaia. Think what it could do. All our animals, our environment, the elders, and the young....the homeless and starving...all could become in a very short time what it needs to be. After all my research, the only way to end it is for the Soldiers to say NO, sir! How can we get them to do that. Signed,,,good journies, River/Janet

Normally, I don't get too involved, but now I am. Our earth is dying, and going to war over oil in my opinion is nothing more than a political power struggle. I have always said we need to go back to horse and buggy. I stand by it. By the year 2100 over half of our world's animals, plants, trees, and other natural resources will be gone, not endangered, GONE! By continuing as we are, we are signing our own death warrant, and I for one am not ready to die. We need to take a stand no matter the cost.

This is typical of what we have seen in the past and will continue to see in the future.
Republican and Democrat congress/senato0rs are all in league with the corporate greedy interests and the environment be damned. Get used to it, global dimming is a reality and in conjuynction with the warming iunless truly drastic borderline draconian measures are taken soon its all over for the biosphere as we have known it. chant, pray, and cry for our children and grandchildren. Or take to the streets and get something done. Or both . . .

I signed, but I don't know how much good it'll do. If you think youfeel screwed by ACE try moving to south La.
We've lost 30, 35, and up to 40 miles of wetlands a year for decades, and more than that in the year since the storms. I need to update my page but the background and some of the graphics may interest you if you're into wetlands preservation.

Noted and signed. Thank you so very much for bringing this to my attention, Judy. Although I am Canadian, I hope my signature helps. I am a Native Elder, Pipe carrier and an Honorary Lakota Chief. I have seen what happens when the bald eagle habitats have been encroached upon. The bald eagle's nesting site is the same one where their offspring return to nest. This kind of behavior by those with "power and money" is totally unacceptable. As the words from your site state: “Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.”, is very powerful. I thank all those who have noted and signed this petition to save precious wetland and all who dwell there, for "together, we CAN do so much."

Two words seem to blot out all good intention in this world. I see them plenty of times noted above.

MONEY & GREED

These two will be the death of us all if we let them get away with it.

MONEY IS NOT EVIL, BUT WE MUST BE WISE IN USING IT SO THAT IT DOES NOT LEAD US TO DOING EVIL.

ITS POSSIBLE FOR PEOPLE TO RUN SHORT OF MONEY, MONEY CAN BUY FOOD , BUT NOT AN APPETITE , BED BUT NEVER A SLEEP, CHURCH PIEW BUT NOT A SAVIOR, THOSE THINGS MONEY CAN'T BUY GOD & JESUS GIVES US FREELY WITHOUT CHARGE.

LETS ALWAYS VALUE PEOPLE AROUND US , FOR MONEY IS MAN MADE, FOR THIS REASON IT HAS LIMITED ACCESS AND POWER.

LIFE IS A CONTINUITY, DONT WORK ASUCH THAT YOU FORTH COMING GENERATION WILL NOT WORK , DONT FORGET THEY HAVE NURTURE & NATURAL TASKS TO CARRY OUT... SO DON'T LIMIT THIER DESTINY BY KEEPING SO MUCH MONEY FOR THEM . YOU SIMPLY NEEDS TO BRING THEM UP WELL EDUCATED.

STOPING YOUR NEXT GENERATION TO WORK BY SELLING WHATS BELONGING TO THE PUBLIC AS YOU ARE ON POWER WILL ONLY LEAD TO YOUR NEXT GENERATION'S DOWN FALL.

IN HUMAN NATURE , I THINK ANYONE WHO HAVE NO NEEDS , HAVE GOT ALL NEEDS ... IN OTHER WORDS , IF WE HAVE ALL WE WANTED ; THE WORLD IS NOT SWEET AT OUR ENDS THEN.

HAPINESS AND JOY OF LIFE SHOULD MEAN WANT BUT NOT GREED.

THANKS FOR LISTENING TO MY LITTLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE ISSUE OF WETLAND SALES.

I THANK YOU ALL , BOTH SMALL AND THE GREAT , LEADERS AND THE LEAD.

STILL ME ,
FERDINAND IFFYii

I noted too.
This is terrible to think about how big money, politics and big business run this counrty any more and they are alowed to get away with whatever they want. Where is that going to take our furure as a whole? Its a very scary thought. I hope we are able to stop them.

Noted and signed. Its time to stop letting developers and other people who are influenced by greed to call
the shots. There must be balance. Without it we stand a good chance of perishing. Animals and nature
are here for a reason, they have their rightful place and it should NOT be taken away just because of
under-handed deals and certain people's deceit.

The present incumbent is a traitor and quickly turning our government into a dictatorship. The constitution is no longer viable as he so flagrantly and arrogantly ignores it and does his and his cronies own bidding. We no longer have representation as this sadly attests. They won't ever stop while power and greed are the sole motivating factors, but we won't either. It is an uttlerly repugnant situation and sadly, such eco-criminals always go unpunished. I have signed various impeachment petitions to no avail. May his days and nights be cursed, as everything around him already is. It's a shame Barbara Bush didn't practice pro-choice.

I'll sign in a heartbeat. It's like none of the polititions look at the big picture. They just look at what they need for the most votes. We are in desperate need of change and a cattle prod to make these people understand what they are causing by their greedy acts.
