How much of this tragedy stems from austerity policies? Maybe now people around the world realize that austerity is a very bad thing.

In addition to this fire , which could have been prevented with sprinklers , the surviving families do not even have shelter. This is a real disgrace

Petition signed. How they could have this Towers without any type of fire alarms or safe escape for people to escape I'll never understand. Owners are siick minded greedy killers. Hope they get hit to the fullest with fines and penalties. Thanks Anna

And London Fire Six Confirmed Dead 20 More Critical

There has been another big fire in a council housing block now, in Finsbury Park - not the same scale, BUT ... Fortunately on a roof terrace, hasn't caused as extensive damage, I understand

Signed and noted. Thank you Anna. So unbelievable that such a tower had no protection against fire risks nor any alarm functioning properly! Definitely not acceptable!

Austerity is ONE reason why this happened. . . that and profit chasing over the health, safety and welfare of the residents. . . . plus, it's been shown that more affluent residents, when questioned, don't want ANY of these unfortunate people to be rehoused near them. . . . which is a shocking indictment of the attitude of the well off folk of the world.

Another point. Grenfell Towers STILL STANDS, and was in no way as robust as the Twin Towers in America. . . . if anyone still thinks that two planes flying in to them, caused the Twin Towers to collapse as they did, they need their head examining.

Controlled explosion.

It's unimaginable that such a building wasn't required to have a sprinkler system! And why was a highly flammable combination of materials, illegal in the U.S. and E.U., allowed to be used as cladding? Signed and noted with sadness and anger! Thank you, Anna.
