When Nestlé Waters North America, the world's largest bottler of water, comes a-courting, promising jobs and increased tax revenues in exchange for local water rights, many small, rural towns get nervous.

The best thing to do with companies like Nestle is to throw them out on their ears before their reps. even open their mouths. Though they bring promises, they are the enemy.

what kind of city makes any deal without an environmental assessment? and why would local businesses listen to anything nestle says. this is so crazy. there's no need for bottled water anyways. just filter your tap with pur. you can get good deals on filters via ebay. and if citizens would take note of these tactics and boycott nestle and other companies, they'd try harder to avoid generating bad p.r.

I haven't read these current allegations as yet. I just saw the name, and know why I have boycotted Nestle since 1974.

In third world countries at that time to probably the present, they did huge campaigns for infant formula, convincing mothers that their product was far superior to breast milk. Unfortunately, thousands of mothers did not have the money to mix the formula in the proper proportions. (they thinned it down, to make it go further) Also many were not told of proper sterilization, or have access to clean water. As a result, thousands of babies died from dysentary and/or malnutrition.

Thanks Noel for the reminder about that infant formula fiasco. I remember that.

Time to stand and unite, and not to allow the big corporations to push us around... They can't come in and promise the world and deliver nothing.
