Today's high-tech weapons manufacturers are enjoying record sales. The trouble is - has anyone asked where these weapons will ultimately end up?

It seems like anyone engaging in this business would have to be callous enough to do just that.

War is big business. How about just inviting them to a party with great food and wine...maybe smoke a little pot and all leave as friends.

"Ye shall know them by their fruit". More than any other administration on earth, perhaps bar the UK, the US government and its criminal friends on Wall Street have been responsible for more war, more unnecessary death and suffering, and more real terrorism (not just the phoney kind they peddle as propaganda to whip up support against 'the bad guys') . Selling arms to people who want to annihilate other people is just part of their routine. Obama and Cameron can bang on about justice, freedom and human rights. But the real measure of their morality, or the lack of it, is in what they do once they get off the stage. Welcome to the gutter....

I wish I knew more about the arms trade. It seems to me that corporate America is profiting off of selling arms to every body and every body who wants them. I would be glad to know how to go about limiting this profiteering. Perhaps the UN is the way...but enforcement by the UN seems unlikely.

Noted. Yes, we are a warmongering empire whose chief industries are subsidized by our tax dollars to build more weapons. Then we sell them to other countries, and eventually end up "fighting ourselves" with our own weapons. Brilliant! (sarcasm)
Our Congress critters are financially beholden to this industry to fund their campaigns and keep jobs in their districts. Right now, they're working on brokering a defense budget to ignore what's been cut through sequestration. That's why I want sequestration to continue. We progressives were supposed to be sponsoring bills to continue to protect & fund specific social programs caught up in sequestration, while continuing to cut Pentagon defense spending. But, with Congress members bought-and-paid for by these corporations, it seems we are fighting a losing battle. I will personally continue to pressure my Congress critters to lower defense funding, and raise funds for SNAP, education, infrastructure, green energy, etc. This sale of arms is immoral and unethical.

It pisses me off that this is done with our tax dollars!

In a way it is actually brilliant, never ending loop, of wanting more funding to be able to keep on developing new and more advanced weaponry... keep the poor countries poor, giving them the tools to eliminate themselfs... and keep war going, so the US keep on making money.

Its simply screwed up...... Peace Peace Peace.... does not make us rich, but will make us human!

Didn't Henry Ford supply the Nazis? Easier to kill with ammo than to drop a Ford on the enemy.
Capitalism without conscience. U.S. arms sent to Afghanistan to use against the Soviets years ago are used against us now.

Good it means jobs that pay for American producers! Saudi is a known Frenemy. So most have no clue of what is going on. But id one studies the middle East and Africa that become obvious. The Africans are for the most part unarmed so they are an easy target. Once armed and hardened it will be a conflict in hot spots. Syria will simmer for years. Since there are multiple sides it is not the same as the cold war.

There is just too much money to be made in this business and, after all, they can sell weapons to both parties.

Thanks for all your comments. The arms trade is probably the dirtiest business in the world. Countries do have a right to defend themselves, because there will always be evil people in the world. However, the profiteering and gorging on blood money that is going on now, is a self perpetuating, predatory machine. The Masters of War own Washington, and the People are too anesthetized to realize or care.

The U.S. could be focusing on producing food and caring for our precious land. Instead, we are being fools by dedicating more and more of our land and work force to producing and transporting fossil fuels, in addition to being merchants of death. We are making decisions for short-term corporate profits and just any kind of jobs. We will pay by ruining our land and our health, and that of our descendants.

Oh Joy! Oh Joy! How long before all the weapons, etc. that we are selling to all our "so called friends", actually they are our enemies but don't tell anyone, are directed at us. Are we so stupid that we don't know they will use them against us at the slightest provocation? Oh well, I guess we are. If we weren't then we would know enough to dump our present government and start over.

Money, money, money. It makes the world go around... Well, at least for some of us and at the rate this arms race is fed, not for very much longer. But who cares? It'll probably just last the lifetime of the arms dealers and the politicians and after them... le Deluge
