While researchers and state officials continue their four-year study on bobcat populations, an animal rights activist, worried hunting and trapping season on the stubby-tailed cat will reopen after 22 years, is working to keep the season closed.

If it means that loving wild animals & trying to protect them brands a person as a RADICAL then we here at CARE2 are RADICALS also & PROUD of it.

I pray that Fournier is able to keep the killing from happening. Did you notice the condescending attitude toward animal rights activists?

"Dockham said. "It's strictly an emotional issue. If you don't like fur, fine, don't wear it, but don't stop people from doing it. They think of us as bloodthirsty murderers." Sorry, if you are not hunting for your own survival, that is EXACTLY the way I have the right to think of you!

Thank you for sharing this news, Yrna! It is good to see that people try to protect these magnificent animals. Also: /agree on both Shirley and Jeannette's comments! It is good to be radical indeed then - and Dockham's argument is a very slippery one. I can imagine a lot of 'if you do not like it, fine - but do not hate us for it'-lines that would (also) be very frightening!

The only population that is out of control is the human one. Thank you for the post, and the comments.

Why reopen hunting that has been closed for 22 years in a planet that is so plagued by endangered species!! It is wonderful that this animal rights activist is working so hard to save the bobcats.

OK, now I'm a radical - SO WHAT!! It's by CHOICE thank you! And you ARE a flippin bloodthirsty murderer if you kill for the fun of it!!! I don't hate you, you're not worthy of wasting any of my emotions on!! WHY are there so many 2-legged crap dwelling on this earth without ANY brains - since they're wanting to reopen the so-called hunting season after so many years?? If they want to keep up 'dark age' practices why don't they go somewhere where they can LIVE in the dark age style as well? In today's so-called enlightened era there's absolutely NO excuse for continuing immoral practices of the past.
