This is torture! Humans should not use torture! What would this person have learned or gained by this kind of torture? This is horrendous, that ANYONE should be put through this abuse! A person or persons who can do this to others are worse mentally than the prisoner in their care.

I'm sorry, I feel so sad for this woman. She's lost everything, and still no justice for her son. this is so wrong!
Then to read the comment under the story was just enraging. Although a year old it ticked me off that people are so damn cruel. Karma. I hope there is karma.

Thank-you all Care2 has been my very big way of dealing with my Grief.

I'm very sorry for what I attempted... May 15, was my Mom's Birthday, and 2 day's after Mother's Day I got a series of Discoverer's question's from the state's attorneys ( Mike Cox ) and I feel like a rape victim, how the state is putting my family on trail.

I set through some of the Jeffery Clark trail with Benita ( whom is the other story featured with Timmy' 60 Minutes show... Airing again July 22, on CBS ) And how she and her family was treated, so the state can get out of the state's responsibility is truly a crime.

If any of us had treated a dog how the State employee's treated Timothy WE WOULD Be in PRISON.

If the public only knew how much of this goes on in our prison system, they would never to send another person to prison unless they had committed a terrible crime. "Shoplifting"....and tortured until death is something from an evil Spielberg movie!! We can never allow for this to happen again, and this is the perfect opportunity to set that example. Gitmo is bad enough and must be shut down!! We can't have it in our own prison system. PLEASE, voice your strongest concerns.

Theresa, I am astonished at the cowardness, dishonesty and small personal interests you have to fight. OMG !! It is revolting (although unfortunately not surprising...). I wish so much I could give you more than my support and all the strengh I've got from afar !!! Be assured that my thoughts are always with you and Timothy.
You've done an amazing job already, considering where you had to start from. I just can't believe you could not be rewarded and justice could not be done. That can't be, Theresa.
You're a heck of a woman and I feel so proud to know you and to be your friend. I just wish I could do more...

Like many others my heart goes out to Timothy's mother! This is a terrible thing to have happened and the legal system in jackson needs looking at severely! It strikes me these day's that it takes a death to make them listen. Noted and thank you!

Theresa, to have lost Timothy and then to be put through all this pain and anguish again and again through the questions they ask for Discovery...my heart goes out to you, my friend. Your pain must never subside with this constant repeating invasion of your emotions and grief. You are not alone, unfortunately many others are mistreated and killed in this so-called justice system and their families are so filled with pain, anger and grief. Often it is secret grief so I am glad you are sharing yours with us and the world. You will not let them shut you up or silence your voice for Timothy and in that there is hope and healing. Consider that we at Care2 who care are holding you in our arms and when you feel depleted we will be strength, when you feel tired, we will be your energy, when you feel you need rest, we will guard over you while you sleep-we are your invisible friend but nonetheless strong spokespeople for what is RIGHT and GOOD about YOU and TIMOTHY. Does anyone see shades of Hitlerism here? The attitude of a lesser being not being important. They are mistaken as noone is a lesser being in the Creator's eyes. For the Government to treat inmates like this ,be their minds ill or sane, leaves one to wonder where is The Christianity, with the Law that is governed by "IN GOD WE TRUST" and then treat HIS children in this manner? NOT against the rank and file, but you should ALL be ashamed for you Government using illness as a MONEY reaping business.I echo Jennie on this, WE will be silent FRIENDS fighting for the rights so he is not lost in vain.

Again I'm sicken at this. This mentally ill prisoner was in prison with rapists and murderers and all he did was shoplift. See this is another problem with our system there should be different jails/prisons or what have you for different crimes. You shouldn't put all types of criminals from the pettiest to the most sickest together!
Prisoners don't need to be treated in such ways. This is horrible. We are supposedly fighting for violated rights in other countries and yet we are doing the same thing here to our own in America . Hypocracy?

I am ever so sorry that you have had to under go such mistreatment by the hands of the justice system.
I also so terribly sorry for the attacks you've had to endure through ignorance and prejudgement by those who don't even know your loss or pain. That angers me more than you know. When those that take the self appointed seat of judge, jury and executioner. To me it only means that they have never felt the type of loss and pain as you have.

This is a tragety. Is there a way for her to sue the State for wrongful death and neglect ? If the State is going to take ownership of a human being's life for any amount of time, the State must be fully resposnible for thier health, safety and Welfare for that period of time.

Why is it that too often the real criminals wear badges? Power corrupts, or at least allows the sadist in some people to show itself. This young man was mentally ill. That in itself should have excused him from going to prison or being found guilty. And for shoplifting? If someone shoplifts, put a value on what they took and have them work it off in community service, or at least part of it. Prison should be the very last resort, and not as punishment, but only if they are a danger to others. His mother has suffered a string of devastating bad luck losing her son, then her father, and then her mother. And she is nearly broke and has a son to take care of with cerebral palsy. The state owes her big time in the way of compensation. As for restraints, they should only be used and closely monitored if someone is a danger to themselves and can't be left alone in a cell. All I can say is that the criminal justice system is criminal in how they deal with inmates, and then seems surprised when abused inmates are sometimes turned into savages by the brutalization. I signed the petition. I believe that God will deal with those responsible in due time.

If this inmate was on medication, which more than likely he was with mental illness, I'd be willing to bet that prison psych's might have been 'adjusting' medication. It's obvious that he must have acted out in order to be shackled to his bed. Prison psych's are probably practicing their abilities and then studying the results, with little to no regard for the inmate nor the staff that have to deal with those results, which could be anywhere from being in la la land to bouncing off the walls.
I know this, I worked a prison for 13 yrs. before I had enough of the political crap that goes on there. I'd be expecting now that something will be done to correct this. At least till the next time...

Teresa, my prayers are with you. There has to be justice for what happened to Timothy...the guards murdered him. How can they call it accidental??? They deserve to be punished...how can they sleep at night? Doing what they did to Timmy knowing the cameras were recording it all shows that they had no fear of being repremanded for what they were doing. Everyone, write your officials, legislators, the President, anyone you can think of. This needs to be stopped. God bless you, Teresa.
