A dog from Mesa, Arizona has been left alone in his yard since January 2014, after his owner was forced to go to the hospital. Neighbors have fed the dog for a while, then called A/C, which claim the dog cannot be removed! Sign now to save the dog!

The only reason I do not want AC involved is because I don't trust them and am afraid they will kill this dog. Will on of the neighbors not take care for him? Why don't they go to the hospital to talk to the dog;s person? I would feel horrible knowing my dogs were left outside being fed once a week and being lonely. Personally I wish someone would just take him and find him a new home. Being about 2500 miles away it won't be me though.

So sad. Why even bother to keep an animal at all if you're unwilling or unable to care for it? I hate the idea of Arizona Animal Control coming, because they ARE notorious for putting healthy animals down. Some poor humane person needs to just bite the bullet and rescue this animal until the owner comes home. I just found out about a new charity: that does just that for animals with owners in hospice. Maybe they could help? If you're located in Arizona, might be worth a try.

I thought about this case more, and sadly Arizona doesn't have a chapter of Pet Peace of Mind, I checked. Any rescue volunteers out there may want to propose doing it -- Banfield funds it. What's the saddest in this case is that the poor person in the hospital put their faith in a friend, who apparently agreed to do the right thing, and is totally falling down on that promise. That's the saddest thing of all.

Dianne D (490)
Friday May 9, 2014, 1:50 pm
On the news last night, the friend who was suppose to be watching the dog while the owner was in the hospital, came and cleaned up the pen. The owner was notified of what was happening and the neighbors were are caring for the dog until the owner gets home this week or next. The friend of the owner needs to be prosecuted. Petition signed.

I live in Tempe, Arizona, now. Tempe Arizona is on the eastern border of Mesa, Arizona. I lived in Mesa, Arizona for two years.

Therefore, I do not believe the information on the YouSign page. NO animal could take the unrelenting desert heat..from January until May.

I have never seen or heard of a dog chained outside in either Tempe or Mesa (because of the heat and predators such as coyotes). I have seen people take their dogs and cats on public transportation. The pet owners bring water and water bowls for their pets and they also put well cushioned boots on the paws of their pets because cement around here is so hot.

Arizonans are red neck and sometimes racist, but they love all animals and are devoted pet owners.

There are no stray dogs or cats....because they would quickly be overcome by the heat during at least three quarters of the year and/or be killed by predators.

Many petition sites such as this YouSign site want to become "successful" petition sites so that they can charge high advertising rates. They manufacture causes that sound so sad but could in fact never be true.

Please to keep strength in all petitions, particularly where Americans sign the petitions and all US petition signatures are subjected to demographic validation, sign petitions for valid well researched causes.

Care 2, Sierra Club, Deja Vu, and Force Change have extremely current petitions for causes we all know to be important.

Is this dogs owner still in the hospital or in a nursing home. Getting the Animal Control involved will only allow them to kill the dog. The best thing is for a rescue or person who knows the dogs owner allowing the dog to be rescued so he can find either a foster or permanent home with attention and care. Everyone thinks the AC will help but unless they work with rescues to try to find a solution, this dog could get killed in 3 days or less if removed from property into their care.

Tom R (23)
Saturday May 10, 2014, 8:50 am
A person could step forward and offer to take care of the dog and even given this dog a walk and/or air conditioned exposure. It is extremely hot in Arizona now.
