Environment  (tags: colorado national monument )

isn't it sad how these groups have to "pretend" to be pro something when they are really against it.

And they dare call themselves "Friends"...

Don't like the clause about a local committee, especially if no Native Americans, but a BO&G rep allowed...

There is no pro drilling group, as the article indirectly states.
This is Big Business, nothing more, nothing less.
This is just another sham!!!

Why would anyone, who enjoys visiting our national parks want to look at drilling equipment, instead of the natural beauty of nature?

Noted. We have to do more to stop fracking & this constant going after pubic lands needs to stop. Our state governors are just bending over to big oil. That being said we must be getting enough education out that they're starting to find the resistance stronger, feel the need to hide more & more behind fake earth friendly names, in order to get what they want. Complete BS

Just saw an episode of Living Dangerously where scientist with the equipment to measure Methane registered Methane leakage in Colorado at 11.0 leakage but must be lower than 1.5 to be cleaner than coal. Bottom line is Methane is exponentially worse for the environment than CO2. The LA Basin leakage in over 17.0 The program highlighted how the President and Congress continue to mislead us that natural gas is cleaner than coal. Methane is colorless, odorless, and invisible but it will kill this planet if we don't get the word out and stop these greedy bastards from destroying our planet. TY Ashley Noted LIKE FRANCE WE MUST STOP "FRACKING" WORLD WIDE.

Why invade such a beautiful national wonder and deface, disrespect and pollute it for greed, Nature lovers do not wish to see mining apparatus in a wondrous place. Why can't the powers that be, wipe the sleep from their eyes and see the real picture and protect such places from being altered and defaced irreparably.

So it's "over-regulated" eh? If you can trash the environment with over - regulation on this scale then there's no hope for any of us! What a joke!

"A more than century-old effort to transform the breathtaking Colorado National Monument into a full-fledged national park has been thwarted by a pro-fracking organization called Friends of the Colorado National Monument (FCNM). "

It never stops amazing me how right wing groups name themselves things that are actually the opposite of what they do, like this one, like all of the Koch and Rove "think tanks". That's not new either, in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Henrik observes while talking about the member of his family who were part of the National Freedom Party, which was a fascist group supporting Hitler in Sweden, "isn't it interesting that people like this always manage to co-opt the word freedom?". And they're still doing it today. Which is why my own internal radar goes off whenever I hear of a report like this one. You gotta watch what people DO, not what they say because they are very often, very different things.

It's sad that people get fooled (apparently) by the name of a group. I can only hope that before people lend their support (and money) to a group, that they check them out thoroughly. Just because someone says they're a friend of "nature" etc., doesn't mean they really are.
