In a discovery that could explain why water covers so much of our planet's surface, scientists find evidence of vast underground "oceans" trapped hundreds of miles beneath the Earth's surface

Two points to make here:

1) This is not a new discovery. I read years ago in Science News (before it was published online) that the Japanese had discovered this. Unless we're talking about two different phenomena, I don't understand why the Japanese have not been credited with something they found and published 12 years earlier. I just did an internet search and there is a National Geographic article about it from 2002:

Inner Earth May Hold More Water Than the Seas
By Ben Harder

Molten rocks deep in the earths interior may be surprisingly wet, Japanese researchers say. From lab experiments, they have concluded there may be more H2O deep underground than in all oceans, lakes, and rivers combined. (Continued)

2) I remember as a child singing a song called, "Rise and Shine" about Noah and the Flood. "It rained and poured for forty daysie-daysie-daysies...." Of course studying science in public school, I thought that this notion was ridiculous, because the water cycle on earth was an ongoing exchange, and if every last cloud on earth precipitated its last drop, there was no way that there would be enough water to cover the earth, or just in the Middle East - Mediterranean areas, which was the known earth at that time.

Then years later, I read the story in the Bible, and I noticed something strange: Genesis 7:11

"....on that day, ALL THE FOUNTAINS OF THE GREAT DEEP BURST FORTH; and the windows of the heavens were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights...."

WHAT fountains of the great deep burst forth? What in the world is the Bible talking about? There are no deep underwater sources of water that could account for such a massive flood.

Then I read, probably back in 2002, about this discovery, and I thought that this was fascinating, considering this part of the Bible was redacted some 3,000 years ago.

Just an interesting thought to share.

Salt water if lined to the oceans. If fresh, who will be the first to patent it, then sell to the general public after all the fresh water topside is poisoned by polluters and frackers...
