I signed the petition with a few choice words: Most of which were; GOD IS EXTREMELY MAD ABOUT THIS! MONKEYS ARE HIS CREATIONS! But before that I said that monkeys may be our closest relatives but that does NOT give us permission to tear their bodies apart. I will fwd this story on. Thank you, Asil.

Nepal to Export 25 monkeys 'soon'

G2H | 20.11.2008 14:47 | Animal Liberation

Yesterday morning we received the sad news that Nepal plans to export 25 rhesus
macaque monkeys at somepoint 'soon', The story was reported in the Himalayan
Times, Nepal's main English newspaper and the government have since failed to
respond to enquiries from Nepal or elsewhere.

You can read the full story here:

We were warned this could happen and we have been quietly gathering information
and forming a mobilisation which will soon bring results but the monkeys need an urgent
response now!

In the news article they talk of already having 100 babies, meaning the SFBR could be on its way to achieving the 75 monkeys a year it's hoping to take from this farm. The implications of that are that Nepal could easily become be another Mauritius, supplying precious Indian Type Rhesus Monkeys unavailable elsewhere, (even the existing American colonies are already inbred and dying out, hence why Nepal is so important to them)!

We are hoping to get an injunction to stop the exports, (at least temporarily), before we can launch a legal challenge in Nepal. The exploitative Wildlife Breeding Policy was drafted at a time of political turmoil in Nepal, and is the only law which still remains that was imposed in that era. We intend to challenge it's legality in a Nepalese court, to expose the monkey farm and hopefully force it's closure.

However finding a lawyer who can't be bought isn't easy in a country like Nepal and, with the American puppet masters pulling the strings to safeguard their $5M investment, (and more importantly it's potential dividends in the form of inncent lives), it's going to be even harder in this case. There will be a lot to do, and it will be expensive, but we can't give up on this!

We will be launching a number of initiatives and actions over the next few weeks, please organise and act as soon as possible also. In the last 2 weeks we have had protests in the USA, France and Germany, but now we need to push even harder. Mobilise and organise, innovate and liberate. Don't wait for us to provide all the initiatives, think outside the box and make it happen.

We are not too late, but time is running out fast!!!

Until all are free,

Yesterday I read that two scumbags walked free after microwaving someone's pet cat after breaking into their property, those are the bastards that should be facing the fate intended for these monkeys. Where's the justice in this world?????

those poor babies losing their minds during this torture, they don't understand this hatefulness! Steve is not too far off the track, there are prisoners who want to volunteer for med research, so why not give them their last wish? if they want to do good while they spend their life in prison, why not let them? they may find peace at last in their otherwise bitter lives, give them a chance to feel some redemption.
and we all fighting against this abuse have no say in how our money is spent, the US always does as it pleases.
ty Asli, hang in there, we're right here with you and these babies, we will cry every day with you, for them.

It is said that humans are an intelligent and civilized species, but I don't think any that feel that the torture and killing of another species like this can be of any intelligence. May all those involved in this cruel practice be haunted forever by their actions and have no restful nights sleep until they come to their senses.

I agree with Sheila re prisoners. Perhaps the people causing or allowing this happening to inocent life should volunteer or use other methods. We can hope that this type people will realize the lack of humanity of their actions but in the mean time I will vote accordingly.

On the 17th of November Nepal's main English language newspaper, the Himalayan
Times, ran a news story reporting that the first 25 monkeys were ready to be
exported from the American funded primate breeding facility in Lele, Nepal.
This in itself is unsurprising as we knew the monkeys would be ready for export
soon, however the question now is how will the Nepalese government respond to
American political pressure?

A ban on the export of monkeys is in place but the American lobby is increasing
the pressure on Nepal's government to sanction the exports, (as seen in last
week's article), so they at least get some monkeys from their $5M investment.
If we don't act to defend the monkeys now, the Americans will win and those
innocent animals will be exported!

After repeated attempts to initiate dialogue with the Nepalese government,
today we launch our own lobbying initiative to counter-act the American
influence and to remind the Nepalese government of their obligations to protect
their wildlife. If they won't listen to us, maybe they'll listen to the
influential members of Nepali society.

At periodic intervals will be releasing a diverse range of contacts for
Government officials, Media Services, NGOs, Trade Unions, Political Parties,
Trade Associations, Business Leaders, Expatriot Groups, Tourism Interests and
anyone else with power, influence and/or interests in Nepal.

If they can influence the Nepalese government, we will be providing you with
their email address. Please contact the people provided at the emails provided
to ask for their support as we try to raise the political pressure in the
monkeys' favour!

SAMPLE LETTER; (Feel free to edit or ammend):--

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you to express my horror at the recent news reports that 25
monkeys will soon be exported from your country to be used in the most cruel
and barbaric research in American laboratories, which is highly unlikely to
generate any of the significant scientific advances being claimed by the

Original Himalayan Times news story on the subject:

The US laboratory where Nepal's monkeys will be sent, the Southwest Foundation
for Biomedical Research (SFBR), has a terrible record of animal treatment. Last
year they even unlawfully dissected a monkey whilst it was still alive, which
is one of the most shocking breach of American animal welfare laws of recent

You can read all about the SFBR and their abuse of monkeys here:

The American funded breeding farm at Lele is now well established, with around
100 babies who will soon also be sent to American laboratories, and this vile
farm must be closed before I will visit Nepal or buy Nepalese products again.

You can watch video footage of the Lele monkey farm here:

The Working Policy on Wild Animal Farming, Breeding and Research (2003) which
permits this farm is contrary to the Wildlife Protection Act 1976 and it's
introduction under King Gyandendra's rule was highly suspicious! The law claims
to be intended to conserve wildlife and improve the living circumstances of the
local population, however there are no plans to reintroduce the monkeys who
have been bred into the wild, they will instead be sent to American research
laboratories, and the local population sees no benefit from either the farm or
the exports!

A copy of the Working Policy on Wild Animal Farming, Breeding and Research
(2003) can be found here:

I urge you in the strongest possible terms to use your influence in Nepal
rectify this situation, which is contrary to the religous sentiments of the
vast majority of the people you represent, by pressing for the abolition of the
Working Policy on Wild Animal Farming, Breeding and Research (2003) and the
release the monkeys instead of exporting them to the most gruesome fate
imaginable in the SFBR!

I also wish to inform you of my intention to join the international boycot of
Nepal, being led by the Gateway to Hell campaign, until the Working Policy on
Wild Animal Farming, Breeding and Research (2003) is abolished, the American
funded monkey farm at Lele is closed and the monkeys who have been captured or
bred there are released back into the wild.

For more information on the campaign to save Nepal's monkeys from vivisection,
please see the Gateway to Hell website:

I will not be visiting Nepal or buying Nepalese products whilst Nepal sends
innocent monkeys to their deaths in American research laboratories and I will
use my influence to ensure my friends and family join the boycot also.

Yours faithfully,

******YOUR NAME HERE*****
