Care2 has no working support over weekends. This petition glitch will only be fixed on Monday!

In the meantime there is LOTS we can do. Signing the petition only is NOT enough. We have to flood them with emails.

In the group is a topic - Spanish postcard pics for emails - and a list of direct emails on the billboard - all directed at Soria - Spain. All you have to do is save the pic on your computer (highlight | right click | SAVE AS. Then when you send emails just 'insert' the pic into the body of the email - no need to write anything except your name and country - copy the email addresses and click SEND.

Now what can be simpler than that? Not as quick as signing a petition - but if we don't do this - nothing will happen!

Please, join the group - it is only for two months - then you can quit! I'll call you again next year!

Thank you all for noting - but please go the extra mile and check the group - consider this a class action suit against the town of Soria and Spain in general. The Spanish activists need our help. THE BULLS OF SORIA NEED OUR HELP!

I am glad to see that we are "off and running" again with this. We worked so hard last year - signing petitions, sending emails etc - unfortunately unsuccessfully. I desperately hope that we will do better this year and get this horrendeous practices stopped once and for all.

Everyone - there is a Care2 glitch - the petition does NOT open properly. I've written the support team, but they do NOT work on weekends. We should (hopefully) have this issue fixed on Monday next week. In the meantime:
join the working group for the time left before the 11th November 09. Lots to do - emails are of paramount importance here. You can quit the group on the 11th November.

WOW !!!!

Our group has 18 members - the bulk email lists are now available directly on the group billboard - all of them tested. So very few should bounce.

I've worked my backside off – what with Care2 glitches and all....

The group spirit is great - and everyone appears committed to the actions. The signing of our mysteriously unavailable petition is but one action. The group is the FULCRUM of the campaign. Folks please join, help us stop this horror (if AVAAZ can get a million signatures and letters sent for an action then why can't we???)

Chris, please use the list from the billboard on the news group only. This list is updated daily, with errors and/or ommissions. Some chaps will have a mailbox overflow - but do not stop sending those. I believe we are already making an impression. The petition at change.org has copied our original email list, but note that this list will not be updated - so please, please use our group's billboard list only.

Another idea to spread the word about the petition is to contact animal rights groups and animal lover blog writers on the internet and ask them if they would kindly include our petition link in their newsletters or blog about the issue with a link to the petition. Please use the correct petition link - not the one that llinks to this news story - Care2 has still not fixed it - so as far as I'm concerned it is dead - I can't even edit the petition.

Pam posted this in the group. Just shows one can have a 'FIRE BULL' festival without actually involving a bull let alone setting one alight!

This article shows a FireBull Festival in another Province - it sounds delightful and fun - what a contrast to the agony and torment of Soria's!

FireBull WITHOUT THE BULL OR THE FIRE!

It's one which really would attract tourists!

"Here in El Burgo in Spain, every year during the last week of August we have the festival of San Agustín (Saint Augustine to us English), where the streets are closed for a full week and the whole population takes to the streets to enjoy the festivities.

The highlight of the week is the closing event, starting at 4.30am on the Monday morning, where the Mayor (el Alcalde) of the town dons a wooden bull (fortunately not a real one) which is stuffed with fireworks.

Above the streets are strung two and a half kilometres of fire crackers. At the given moment the fire crackers are lit and commence their extremely noisy path along the streets towards the town hall. At this moment, too, the 'bull' is lit and the fireworks begin to explode and fly everywhere.

The task for the unfortunate mayor is to run, with the bull, towards the town hall and beat the string of fircrackers to the building. We've never managed to see whether or not the mayor ever succeeds, but the cheers suggest he made it this year (though they'd probably cheer even louder if he didn't make it!)

What on earth the "tradition" of setting fireworks off has to do with San Agustín, we haven't a clue! But who cares – this experience is magical! We understand (this is our second year) that no-one is ever injured, though that must surely be due to good luck rather than good planning. This is an event which should definitely not be missed. If you plan visiting El Burgo, Málaga, this is the time to do it!"

450 signatures so far. So many more needed against this hideous action!

We have 106 noted - has everyone who noted signed? And asked friends - this is one action NO-ONE would be hesitant to sign - even those who don't normally sign petitions, it's just such a monstrous atrocity!

48 wonderful people have joined the group - there are many suggestions for actions there - Eureka has put in a magnificent effort! If we had 106 people taking at least one of the actions each day, it would be tremendously helpful.

And remember - it's only for a matter of around 5 weeks - that's how long to go before before a LIVING ANIMAL WILL BE SET ALIGHT!
And it could well be the same poor creature that had this unspeakable agony inflicted on him last year - the poor burnt and blinded bull is not even afforded the release of death from his agony, and the same animal can be used year after year.

Can we imagine the mental, as well as the physical torment!

Dear Eureka,
Reporting, regretfully, that the YouTube Video does Not work. YouTube replies that: "The URL contained a malformed video ID."

Is there a way to approach Randy or anyone at Care2 system and ask to do the utmost possible to publicise this cause and SHAKE those (existant????)million members? It seems that most members are here mainly for social activities, collecting "friends"-stars-awards and less for changing the world (where and if possible) for the best.

3.Continuing to another screen “See all Animal Welfare petitions“
where petitions are not by level of cruelty/importance (hard to grade?) or at least Alphabetically(in which case you can find when you already know what you’re looking for) – where IS OUR petition? Can one sift it from all these grains?
Isn’t there a way to push this issue to the front page?
