I know it is graphic - but without us now going hell for leather we will not stop this barbarity. Last year, 11th November I huddled into myself - completely dazed, distressed just knowing what was happening on the other side of the word. An animal screaming out iin pain, blinded, burnt, bloody WHILE PEOPLE ARE LAUGHING THEIR SICKO HEADS OFF.

And that is why this group is working so hard - because we KNOW what is coming.

To be an animal rights activist one has to have a very strong stomach, a spine of pure steel and unbelievable courage. Oh yes, I almost puke every time I see these photos (after all I had to put the group together), and I'm sure the other activists feel the same way - but if we don't speak up, show up, and show the pictures and the videos to the world - THEN WHO WILL??

I want to think that most people involved in this simply think of it as some very old tradition. I want to believe that if only they could be made to understand the pain and cruelty for the bulls -- they would stop immediately. That is what I want to believe, but I know that some find this fun and don't really care what suffering is being inflicted, and that saddens me deeply. Petition signed with hope.

Honestly, Kit? When I see these things, I realize how much humans have NOT evolved. We no longer have to kill our food to survive, nor to wear the fur from them to keep warm, or make clothing/shoes.

And yet, many consider themselves to be so "above" other animals that they even feel it's appropriate to "sacrifice" them (as entertainment) in festivals, in much the same vein as pagans.

As I see the "progress" humans have made, still killing other humans (and investing untold wealth in creating more efficient ways to do so); destroying land, water and air . . . it's very sad.

I could not watch the video in fear of never being able to shut my eyes again. I feel the same way about the vision of live animals being skinned . I was a nano second into this and I heard the wild cackling of the lunatics in the background. I honestly hope they rot in Hell, or maybe they should go to Bull Heaven where the bulls get their vengeance. I would like to see that.

I think this person is incensed by the meat eating industry - where the horror of slaugherhouses drive the cattle mad with fear - and they are not always slaughtered humanely. In my opinion there is no such thing as humane slaughter. I have also received the message from el Presdenta. From what he writes it would appear to be good harmless fun and much like the sort of stuff we do in the UK or US. Well he told me so himself and you can't argue with facts like that! Sadly I doubt the President evn is awre of the emails and the stock reply was jigged up by a minion. However my emaials which were in a queue are now returning undeliverable due to overflow at receiving end. So does this count as a denial of service attack. Whatever we must have made our feelings known! Nothing to the sufferring of the bull if a few bureaucrats have to change their email addresses!

Yes Chris - the group actions are tremendous. We are flooding their email boxes with our protests.

The 'canned' response from one of the king's minions is to be expected. PETA feedback is that he does not give a continental damn anyway and never listens to any emails / input / feedback from the people of Spain.

We need an animal rights activist individual or a group to print our petition in Spain (I will email the PDF file once the petition is closed) They are to deliver it BY HAND to the top four Soria officials. They can create a PayPal donation link for us and we'll contribute towards the printing costs. It will be horrendously expensive to courier from South Africa.

SO IF ANYONE HAS A PERSONAL CONTACT IN SPAIN WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP US - PLEASE POST ON THE GROUP'S Daily Action Affirmation thread.

This is archaic, abhorrent and incomprehensibly cruel and sadistic on every moral and ethical level. To extensively torture & maim ANY sentient animal is unacceptable and will not be accepted in our world, that is becoming increasingly concerned towards the welfare of animals. We are fighting for a Universal Declaration On Animal Welfare & when this becomes LAW, these barbaric practices will be forced to stop. I have put a very strong letter in my petition signature and I will crosspost this to ALL MY FRIENDS ACROSS THE WORLD. I have mentioned in my letter on the petition, that Spain is not only infuriating its OWN PEOPLE by carrying out this incomprehensibly cruel and sadistic torture to bulls, they are also SERIOUSLY DAMAGING the reputation of their COUNTRY to hundreds of thousands of people across the world. I have also said that I will forward my letter to EVERYONE I POSSIBLY CAN & TELL THEM TO BOYCOTT SPAIN TOO. I have hounded many countries Presidents, Kings, Leaders & Government Officials with emails, letters & campaings in the fight to end animal cruelty. This has to STOP NOW. I am incensed and outraged regarding this horrendous, barbaric & incomprehensible cruelty to innocent bulls. To then portray this as entertainment is abhorrent. I have vented how I feel about this issue in my comment above, now I am taking EVERY action I possibly can.

I have now noted and commented on this News Thread twice.
I Signed the petition on Care 2 and Change.org, with my own strong letter added to give it more weight.
I sent out a message to all my friends on Care 2 with 'links' to this News Thread, The Care 2 Petition, The Change.org Petition, The Care 2 Group-Firebull & the Youtube Video for them to rate. I also included in this message a copy of my letter that I wrote on both petitions. I hope this will help, as all the information is easily available in one message, which I hope will make it even more accessible.

Also friends that do not have the time to compose their own letter can if they wish use my letter as a 'template', which they can then edit/adapt with their own personal comments for use on the Care 2 Group-Firebull, when sending out protest emails to all SPANISH OFFICIALS. I know some people like to compose their own letters as I do, but people may not have the time to do this. I also know there is a pre-written sample letter on the Care 2 Group that people can send. As a lot of people do not have time to compose their own letter, they will tend to use the pre-written letter on the Care 2 group. I think if there is another template letter that people can use & then edit/adapt with their own personal comments, this will give the petition more weight, as there will be more diversity in the wording of the protest letters that are sent.

The Change.org pettion page has the list of all the Tested Emails that we can send out protest letters to. Much to my belief I have managed to send My Protest Letter to All Eight Soria Officials email addresses, All 71 Spanish Embassies email addresses, The 169 (approx) email addresses on Spanish Officials-List 1 & The 140 (approx) email addresses on Spanish Officials-List 2. A total of 388 Protest Letters sent to ALL THE SPANISH OFFICIALS ON THE LIST. Admittedly, I did have a few bounce back, but only about four or five out of the whole list!!!

I will keep fighting for the bulls and sending out emails to the Spanish Officials regularly, for as long as I can.

THE SPANISH AUTHORITIES CANNOT BE PERMITTED TO PERPETRATE THIS HEINOUS SADISM TOWARDS INNOCENT BULLS AND LAWS MUST BE ENFORCED TO PROHIBIT THIS IMMEDIATELY.

As a country bidding to host the 2016 Olympic Games, the Spanish authorities should reflect on the fact that traditions such as this belong to the same dark corner of history reserved for mankinds many other atrocities.

Please note that the email address list is updated on a daily basis on the group billboard. We clear out bounced emails and add any new emails when found. There are lots of other action links on the group billboard too.

Unfortunately the first change.org pettion that was created by another kind soul is not being kept up to date (the original email list is out of date). Therefore use the group's email list only - there is also a letter in Spanish - much better as it is easily understood by the Spanish offcials.

I am a proud member of Care 2 and I probably spend more time on this site than any of the many other Animal Welfare, Conservation & Humanitarian Issues sites that I am a member of.

However, please be aware that sending letters via the tested email address list on the Change.org site to the Spansh Officials is just as valid as sending letters to the email address list on the Care 2 group.

Change.org is a very worthy site & has many members that are avid animal welfare activists, that value the site equally with Care 2. Therefore, I do not totally agree with the comment to 'Use the Care 2 Group email address list only.'

Even if the email address list on the Care 2 Group-Firebull that is hosted on Care 2 is updated more regularly & has more 'links' on it than the Change.org site, this in no way indicates that sending letters via the email address list on the Change.org site will not have any have impact, infact quite the opposite.

I sent out 388 emails with my personalised letter to all the Soria Officials, all the Spanish Embassies & all the Spanish Officials via the Change.org site. I only had five bounced back. I work that out to be a 98.7% success rate of my protest letter being received by the Spanish Authorities.

Another point that is important to mention is that sending the letter in Spanish may not be suitable in all cases. Many people in England & other countries who do not speak Spanish may not be happy sending a letter that they do not understand & would prefer to send a letter in their native language, so they know what they are sending. If we give out the impression that it is better to send the protest letter out in Spanish, as this will be better understood by the Spanish Authorities, we may alienate people who wish to send out their personal letters in their native language. Hence, this may limit the number of protest letters that are sent.

Also, English is a widely spoken 1st or 2nd language and therefore sending letters in English cannot be under estimated, as there are many people in Spain who speak English.

A large proportion of the Spanish Embassies around the world would have English as a 2nd or 3rd language & would have the ability to understand letters written in English. Spanish Embassies that did not understand English would almost certainly have English interpreters.

The general consensus is that the more crossposting we do with other Animal Welfare Sites, the better. It is fair to say that some sites may be more effective than others. However, even if the email letters sent via the email address list on the Change.org site did have a lower success rate than the email letters sent via the email address list from the Care 2 Group, this would still be extra publicity that would not have been obtained if these emails had not been sent and were only sent to the email address list on the Care 2 Group-FireBull.

Surely the more publicity we get the better? It is not a competition to see which site is the most efficient.

We are all here for the same reason, to make a real change to the worldwide laws surrounding Animal Welfare and striving for a Universal Declaration On Animal Welfare.

It is the accumlative effort from all Animal Welfare Sites around the world, regardless of their size that will make the change that we desire.

Even the smallest ripples can make a huge difference, until all the ripples meet to become an Ocean of Success.

I have signed and forwarded several of these, from Care2 and from Change.org and from Peta and I'm happy to sign all there are. I thought this must be a hoax at first, because who could behave this way and who would permit it? I can't even read the whole story and I can't watch the video at all. I can see the photos when I close my eyes and it's haunting to anyone who understands that other mammals, just like us, feel pain, terror, agony, fear and they don't even know why.
I'm just sick about this.
I added comments to each petition to try to help more -
I understand that there are cultural differences that we must take into account when we look at the behavior of people in other countries. Still, that said, this is so revolting that I cannot describe it adequately. It is especially sad that now I think of these pictures every time someone mentions Spain or the Spanish people. It's awful that anyone would take delight in the pain and suffering of an animal and cause it on purpose, and the idea that it would be the cause of great celebration and jubilation is disgusting. It is difficult to believe this is real and not a hoax - do the people in your nation really behave in this barbaric way? What else goes on there?
