Wildlife officials won't release the official cause of death just yet, but they say the eagles may have died from eating bullet fragments which may have contributed to lead poisoning.

People can not shoot them, but they die from bullet fragments? Some times ya just can't win.

They suspect it's from LEAD POISONING ! Lead that has been banned in paint, gasoline but not Bullets because the freaking NRA lobbies the legislatures to keep this toxic filth in bullets. This is enraging ! Plenty of wildlife organizations have been trying to get lead of out of ammunition. These deaths were preventable ! This is what is happening to wildlife because lead is in ammo, and also the fact that LEAD from ammo can poison the environment and YOUR water ways. I am not SAD - I am enraged. Don't be SAD - GET MAD !

These are endangered species - bald eagles - a protected species. I am so upset. I feel nuts. No, you can't just shoot them, but 4 have died from possible lead poisoning.

This is the way "gun owners " play with their weapons! Attrocious!

I would think possibly eating a water foul or something like that which had been shot. Never really seen an Eagle pick up metal and eat it! But to have 4 of them die like this seems quite odd!

Lee..I don't think it has anything to do with gun owners playing with their weapons..think about it..how long have we had Eagles and how long have we had guns with the same type of lead in them and all of the sudden NOW something like this happens!? Something is not right here! I don't buy it!

Now if somebody shot the Eagles..that is a different story all together! I have another suspicion but I won't say what it is because some people might go ballistic over anyone even thinking it. Thanks Phyllis!!

I read that in their feeding on deer that have been shot, they ingest bullet fragments. But I'm with you Constance and Carol. This is maddening and may not be the whole story. RIP great ones. They really need to procreate.
