Shana Goodwin, 39, is nothing like the woman pictured in the mug shots she shared with ABC News.

That woman was arrested more than 100 times for prostitution; her street name was "Shelley Money"; she had a drug problem; and she never seemed to be able to escape the violent men who ran her world.

"I was really tired and I was done," Goodwin said.

These days, though, she's clean and sober, sitting behind a large desk in the sales department at Thistle Farms, the Nashville, Tenn., company that changed her life.

"I could never see this far and that's why it's really important what I do today," Goodwin said.

She credits Becca Stevens - the woman who started the company - with showing her the way out.

Stevens, 50, is an ordained minister who recruits former prostitutes to make oils, lotions and lip balms that are sold in hundreds of stores across the country. The products are also sold at Whole Foods.

Stevens promises the women two years of security and safety if they leave the streets for her residential program Magdalene. Like so many of the women she helps, Stevens said she too was a victim of sexual abuse at an early age.

"What I didn't know was that that period would link me to the women on the streets forever," Stevens said.

Lemon sage, lavender and honey are all ingredients in the recovery of her women. They attend support group meetings and prayer circles

This is awesome news Phyllis!! Thank God for women like this who are truly concerned for those living in the streets! All they need is a show of confidence in them that they can do better and do something positive with their lives and that they are "worthy" of it!! Thanks for a great article!!

Now this is the epitome of the slogan "a hand, not a handout" that the right wing is so good at repeating and so poor at providing. Any of these ladies interested in running for office? It sure would help to have someone in office who understands the ins and outs of what America needs.

Now this is true entrepreneurship that so many could be doing for many people who are just looking for a start in life. Those without skills, those who are young and don't have the experience so no one wants to hire them, the returning Veterans, the Disabled, displaced homemakers wanting to get back into the work force, the employees laid off in their later years but still wanting to be working and needing to be employed, the former incarcerated. A lot of people are just looking to be given a chance.......bless her for giving these women the chance and those who took up the opportunity.

This Country could be so much nicer if the CEO's and Employers would only think of Profit alone and also add into the equation social justice and humanity into the work place. Wow, thanks Phyllis for giving me a real nice good night story to go to sleep on.
